Toyota’s Battery Production Engineering department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Senior Engineer to work in the Battery group.
The primary responsibility of this position is to prepare and coordinate procurement, install and trial of battery equipment to support new model launches.
This position will be located at Toyota North Carolina, and report to the Engineering Manager for Battery.
What you’ll be doing
- Developing process plans for battery production lines within the Production Engineering (PE)department with direct support from the Manager.
- Focused area in electrode battery production area, specifically coating.
- Leading engineers and technicians
- Leading cost planning, budget creation, machine specification, procurement, validation, installation, pre-productions trials and launch of battery production lines
- Creating and maintaining detail schedules and budgets for assigned area
- Participate in cross functional working groups across the local facility and corporate departments to achieve project goals
- Participate in a mentor program to grow as an engineer and learn from others within the department
- Construction / Equipment installations
What you bring
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering or similar technical field or 5+ years of equivalent experience in Manufacturing
- Experience in the development, specification, procurement, installation, commissioning, and/or operations in the one or more of the following processes specifically intended for the manufacture of batteries for electrified vehicle drivetrains
- Slurry mixing
- Coating/drying
- Experience in Production Preparation or Manufacturing and experience in execution of capital projects, preferably from initial planning to start of production. Including schedule creation and KPI tracking from initial planning to start of production
- AutoCAD experience, including the ability to read, interpret and manipulate drawings
- Budget management experience for capital projects greater than $2M
- Ability to work weekend, holiday and shutdown work; paid overtime up to 25%
- Business travel, both domestic and international, up to 15%
Added bonus if you have
- 10+ years of experience in Manufacturing
- Experience and/or exposure to Battery Manufacturing process
- Solvent recovery
- Calendaring
- Slitting or notching
- Winding or web management
- PLC experience, including the ability to investigate and troubleshoot
- Experience in creating and implementing processes in a manufacturing environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Toyota Production Engineering experience
- Advanced degree, such as MS in Engineering or an MBA
- TBP completion through Panel (Toyota Team members only)
- Japanese language ability (Rank N1-N5)
