Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Direct a music major concert band, teach conducting classes and applied lessons, supervise student teachers. Assist with logistical operations of the band program as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Doctorate in music preferred; Master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in the field of music from a regionally accredited institution or university required. Valid teaching license. Strong conducting and public school teaching background.

RANK AND SALARY

Adjunct, part-time with potential for full-time teaching load; non-tenure track. Salary commensurate.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Texas A&M University-Kingsville is a predominantly Hispanic-serving, state-assisted institution with an enrollment of about 7,000 students. The School of Music (SOM), an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music, enrolls about 290 undergraduate and 25 graduate music majors, with 25 full-time and 18 part-time faculty. The SOM is housed in a new, 100,000 sq ft music facility, featuring four dedicated rehearsal halls, concert hall, recital hall, recording studio, and designed as the showcase building for the entrance to the campus. The SOM offers the following degrees: Bachelor of Music in Performance, Bachelor of Music with Teacher Certification, Bachelor of Music in Sound Recording Technology, Master of Music in Music Education, Master of Music in Performance, and Master of Music in Conducting.
