Job Summary:

The Referral Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring seamless communication between referring providers and our clinical team. This position requires excellent organizational skills, the ability to multitask, and a strong commitment to patient care. The Referral Coordinator will manage all aspects of the referral process, ensuring that patients receive timely and appropriate care while maintaining positive relationships with both patients and providers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage incoming and outgoing referral requests efficiently and accurately.
  • Communicate with referring providers to gather necessary information and document details clearly.
  • Schedule patient appointments based on referral information, ensuring optimum patient flow.
  • Track and follow up on referral statuses, updating the referring provider and patient as needed.
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date referral logs and patient files.
  • Coordinate with clinical staff to ensure all pertinent information is available for new patient visits.
  • Handle patient inquiries related to referrals and coordinate any further appointments or services.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for improving the referral process.
  • Resolve any issues or discrepancies related to referrals in a timely manner.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures to ensure patient confidentiality and compliance.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a medical office or healthcare setting, preferably in dermatology or related fields.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and insurance processes is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and electronic medical records (EMR) software.
