Ops Associate (Pear Studio) - Pear
Job Description
Pear VC
At Pear, we specialize in pre-seed and seed investments, partnering with founders at the earliest stages of their journey. Over the last 10 years, we’ve invested in eight companies, each valued at over $1 billion dollars and helped take three companies public.
Our investment philosophy is simple: invest in the very best founders and do whatever it takes to help them succeed. We act as an extension of the companies we invest in, significantly increasing their chances of success. Our investing team consists of deep functional experts who have founded, built, and scaled more than ten companies. Our founder services team brings extensive experience across all aspects of company building, including hiring, growth, fundraising, marketing, and beyond.
At Pear, we are dedicated to empowering startups to achieve their full potential.
About the role:
Are you passionate about creating dynamic, community-driven events? Pear VC is seeking a proven Operations Associate to manage the execution of impactful events at our San Francisco Pear Studio space, while also owning the office’s daily operations.
At Pear Studio, events are a cornerstone for fostering community, providing founders with opportunities to learn, grow, and expand their networks. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and executing a wide range of events, from intimate founder gatherings to larger networking events. You’ll also play a key role in ensuring our founders have an exceptional experience during their time at Pear Studio.
If you’re organized, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and love working in event management, this role could be a great fit for you.
What You'll Do:
Event Management & Execution (40%):
Lead the planning, execution, and coordination of events hosted at Pear Studio, ensuring each event runs smoothly and provides value to our founders and community.
Own smaller events independently from concept to completion, including pre-planning, coordination, day-of logistics, and post-event follow-up tasks.
Provide on-site support for events, ensuring seamless registration, guest check-ins, and overall event flow.
Collaborate with the operations team on larger, cross-functional events, managing responsibilities like catering, venue setup, and audio/visual needs.
Maintain relationships with vendors, caterers, and event partners to ensure high-quality event execution.
Be available for evening events 1-2 times per week, supporting after-hours programs when needed.
Office & Community Management (60%):
Ensure the Pear Studio is a welcoming, organized space for founders and guests, with a focus on creating a professional environment.
Greet guests and manage Pear Studio member onboarding, including access badges and orientation, helping build a connected community.
Oversee the ordering and maintenance of office and kitchen supplies to support daily studio needs.
Liaise with building management and vendors for studio maintenance, ensuring the facility operates smoothly. Help troubleshoot Pear Studio problems as they pop up.
Given the focus on office management, you’ll be expected to be in the Pear Studio office 5 days per week, with one day being in Menlo Park Studio.
What You’ll Bring:
Proven experience in event management: Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail in executing events of all sizes.
Strong ability to multitask, prioritize, and adapt in a dynamic environment with busy event seasons.
Tech-savvy with tools like Google Suite, Mailchimp, Canva, and event management software like Gatsby and Lu.ma. Prior experience on these exact softwares is a plus but not required.
Flexibility to support events during evenings as needed.
Professional, warm demeanor for interacting with founders, guests, and colleagues.
What the Role Offers:
A chance to lead and manage high-impact events that foster the growth of tech entrepreneurs.
Opportunities to develop deep insights into the venture capital and startup world, with a direct impact on Pear VC’s community-building efforts.
Work in a state-of-the-art office, just a short walk from Chase Center, complete with snacks and weekly team lunches.
