ARCHITECT / TECHNICAL DESIGNER – Senior

Overview

As a senior design professional, you will be key in delivering high-quality projects across multiple phases, from concept development to technical execution. Drawing on your deep expertise in architecture and interior design, you will have the autonomy to lead projects and initiatives alongside senior leadership. In this role, you will be responsible for design documentation, consultant coordination, and project execution, ensuring seamless collaboration and exceptional outcomes. Your strategic approach and ability to navigate complex design challenges will shape meaningful spaces and enhance client experiences.


Responsibilities

  • Lead projects with varying levels of complexity, collaborating closely with project leaders and other team members. 
  • Serve as a strategic collaborator with project leaders, mentoring junior team members and fostering innovation.
  • Participate as a key contributor in all phases, including programming, conceptual design, schematic design, and design development.
  • Drive and develop client engagement, presenting design concepts and providing expert guidance on project vision and development.
  • Lead and oversee budgeting, scheduling, and fee structures, maintaining alignment with project goals.
  • Lead collaboration with team members early and often to inform design outcomes.
  • Direct and refine design documentation, ensuring technical accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
  • Oversee construction documentation to maintain design intent throughout the process.
  • Shape planning concepts for interiors (space planning, building restacking) and architecture (site planning, conceptual development).
  • Spearhead material selection, specifications, and location documentation, ensuring cohesion and functionality.
  • Perform design layouts and features, including researching, compiling, and recording information for assigned project work.
  • Perform specific portions of assignments using prescribed methods, design/production software, general office software, and current presentation tools and standards.
  • Assist with specifications and research products. 
  • Conduct code analyses, serving as the primary liaison with jurisdictions to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Conducts on-site observations and prepares architect’s field reports.
  • Provide hands-on leadership in construction-phase coordination, maintaining design intent and addressing field challenges.
  • Maintain RFI and submittal logs, assisting with construction-phase coordination.
  • Perform site surveys and maintain resource materials.
  • Adapt to emerging responsibilities based on project needs.

Capabilities

  • Excellent project execution skills with knowledge of the full design process, competent in all conventional aspects of architecture.
  • Highly adaptable and able to focus on a single client with diverse project types or manage multiple concurrent projects at various development stages. 
  • Proactive problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate design ideas and direction quickly.
  • Superior communication ability with clients, consultants, contractors, and staff.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with all levels of management and staff.
  • Exceptional organizational, time management, and people leadership skills.
  • Excellent skills in REVIT, Enscape, Bluebeam, Newforma, AutoCAD, Adobe Suite, Microsoft Office and other applicable programs.
  • Excellent BIM modeling skills.

Qualifications

  • Design professional with (typically) ten plus years of experience in commercial interior design and/or architecture. 
  • Degree in architecture from an accredited university.
  • LEED and/or Well credentials are a plus.
