Job Purpose
Job Title: Health & Safety Compliance & Assurance Auditor - Temporary Opportunity until March 2027
Hours: 37 hours a week (Monday to Friday)
Advertised Salary: £40,000 + £425 per month Car Cash Allowance.
Base Location: Home-working role. You will be required to travel to a designated work site or hub within our network a minimum of two days per week. Hub location will be discussed at interview stage.

We are currently recruiting for a Health & Safety Compliance and Assurance Auditor to join our Health & Safety Team. The Healthy & Safety Compliance and Assurance Auditor will provide compliance assurance through conducting H&S audits and inspections across the Trust and support the Trust’s H&S Team in ensuring standards, operating procedures and processes are relevant and effective, assisting in updating these as needed. You will be required to travel to a designated work site or hub within our network a minimum of two days per week.

Knowledge, Skills/Qualifications & Experience
Key accountabilities:
- Conduct internal H&S audits and inspections - both on site and desk top - to an agreed schedule, including recommendations for improvement.
- Documenting findings and produce professional reports for the Director of Health & Safety
- Use professional knowledge, experience and audit findings to advise the H&S Team on emerging risks and opportunities for improvement
- Promote the health and safety of all colleagues, volunteers, visitors and members of the public people who draw on our support, and stakeholders.
- Contribute to relevant risk assessments and ensure necessary safeguards are in place.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all relevant legislation and internal policies.
- Home based with the option to work from a local area office if preferred. Regular and reasonable travel to different work locations throughout England and Wales.
- Provide H&S subject matter expertise where required by the Trust.
- Ensure continued effectiveness of the Trust’s health and safety management system (HSMS) and its supporting standards, documents and processes
- Monitor developments in the field of health and safety policies and relevant legislation; investigate external best practice and apply learning, developing safety programmes to the benefit of the Trust.
- Contribute positively to continuous improvement in the safety culture of the Trust
About you
Technical:
- Experienced and knowledgeable in safety compliance auditing and legislative requirements across a broad range of disciplines in health and safety management for employees, contractors, volunteers and the general public (users / visitors).
- The ability to make pragmatic recommendations taking into account the unique historical infrastructure, environment and ways of working within the Trust.
- The ability to work proactively to anticipate emerging Trust-wide H&S risks.
- Confidence in using IT to undertake trend analysis, performance monitoring, and creation of information for the Trust.
- Professionally qualified – NEBOSH dip or equivalent; minimum Certified member of the Institute of Safety and Health (IOSH).
General:
- Capable and authoritative communicator to a broad range of audiences across a wide range of circumstances including face to face discussions, negotiations, dealing with people at all levels of the Trust. Flexibility to develop an appropriate communication style that influences the audience at hand.
- Ability to interpret data, see trends; communicate the same in a range of ways including through reports, presentations, orally and a range of digital outlets.
- Role requires national travel so ability to drive is required - Current driving license and own transport (ability to travel widely necessary for this post The salary has been set at a level to recompense use of your own vehicle for business travel. In addition to your salary you will receive a mileage allowance for all business travel.
- Proven ability to work autonomously, both at an individual and team level.
- Ability to think and respond creatively, positively and with flexibility.
- Experience of completing H&S audits, inspections and desk top compliance reviews.
