The Planning & Delivery team delivers critical planning, design and the capital building and infrastructure program that enable Sydney Airport to achieve its strategic objectives. Planning & Delivery adopts a customer centric approach to our engagement with all internal stakeholders, providing transparency and demonstrable value for money in our dealings with external stakeholders and delivering its results in a way that mitigates unplanned disruptions to ongoing airport operations for all our stakeholders, travelers and the public.
This leadership role within Planning and Design is crucial for maintaining Sydney Airport's innovative edge and strategic focus on land use and transport planning. It drives optimized growth by balancing land use and transport needs with corporate objectives and regulatory requirements.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to
- Develop strategies and documents essential for airport planning and development, including the procurement, development, and delivery of key statutory documents.
- Provide leadership in landside and airside planning strategies and projects, commercial deals, and unsolicited proposals.
- Lead stakeholder engagement and collaborate with key external technical officers at government agencies to facilitate, influence, direct, advocate, and frame planning projects to achieve best practice outcomes in support of Sydney Airport’s objectives.
- Ensure the effective delivery of the planning assessment function.
About you
- Tertiary qualifications in engineering, urban planning, or a related discipline, along with at least 10 years of senior experience combining generalist, specialist, and people leadership roles.
- Experience in capital-intensive industries such as aviation, infrastructure, or utilities, and dealing with regulators and stakeholders on complex planning and regulatory matters is essential.
- Familiarity with both State and Commonwealth legislation and development approvals processes is required.
- Demonstrate innovation and creativity with a pragmatic approach to problem-solving, possess an innovative mindset with flexibility and agility, and have proven experience in building and driving planning programs and strategies across organisations.
- Ability to lead and manage competing commitments in a fast-paced environment, a commercial mindset balancing structured planning with strategic goals, strong stakeholder engagement skills, and effective communication and interpersonal skills to influence at a senior level are crucial.
