We are seeking an experienced and skilled Network Engineer II to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting our client’s network infrastructure while maintaining client service level agreements. As a Network Engineer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the stability, security, and performance of our clients' networks. You will work closely with our clients, internal teams, and vendors to ensure successful network operations and provide support and guidance on network management and optimization. This role focuses on managing alerts from both a reactive and proactive perspectives. This role requires consistent on-site presence at the client’s headquarters—8 hours a day, 5 days a week.

Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Handle both end-user and system-generated tickets, ensuring all necessary information and communications are accurately logged and well-organized for both client and internal review.
  • Serve as an escalation point for junior network engineers on the team.
  • Support network solutions for clients, including LAN, WAN, and WLAN environments.
  • Draft and stage recommended network changes following change management processes and approve requested changes for client environments.
  • Provide troubleshooting and problem resolution for network-related issues, ensuring a timely response & resolution with minimal impact on client operations.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless integration of network solutions with other IT infrastructure components, such as servers, storage, and security systems.
  • Conduct network performance monitoring and analysis to proactively identify and address potential bottlenecks or vulnerabilities.
  • Root cause analysis on recurring alerts and issues to implement data-driven solutions for clients.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies, evaluating their potential impact on network infrastructure, and recommending relevant solutions.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of network documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and standard operating procedures.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers, sharing knowledge and best practices to enhance their skills and expertise.
  • As a managed service provider, we work with a wide range of technologies and vendors to best align solutions with the needs of our clients. A Broad knowledge of physical and virtual network concepts and technologies is highly desirable.

Job Requirements

  • U.S. Citizen (Federal client requirement)
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field or relevant work experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Checkpoint firewalls
  • Familiarity with WatchGuard Firebox and Cisco Meraki preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Network Engineer within a managed services provider or similar environment.
  • Intermediate knowledge of networking principles and protocols, including TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, MPLS, and QoS.
  • Experience in network design, implementation, and troubleshooting, with a broad knowledge of network technologies/vendors.
  • Solid understanding of network security concepts and technologies, such as firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and AAA.
  • Experience with network monitoring and management tools.
  • Understanding of cloud networking concepts and experience with cloud service providers (e.g., AWS, Azure).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve network issues efficiently.
  • Experience exercising soft skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to clients and internal teams.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and prioritize workload effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to mentor and provide technical guidance to entry level network engineers.
  • Experience working with different network vendors (e.g., Meraki, SonicWall)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, Net+, AZ-700) are highly desirable
