The Triage Agent (NC West) plays a crucial role in enhancing patient experiences by performing effective telephone triage tailored to dermatology patients' needs in the North Carolina West region.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Answer incoming calls and manage voicemails, addressing queries and directing calls appropriately.
- Identify and communicate urgent situations, pathology results, and navigate EMA/EMR documentation.
- Relay pathology results, assist in scheduling follow-up appointments and minor procedures.
- Assist new patients with scheduling, creating patient charts, and maintaining accurate notes.
- Utilize basic medical terminology to respond to patient inquiries satisfactorily.
- Document all interactions accurately within the EMA system.
- Schedule surgeries by following specific templates and guidelines set by the providers.
- Prioritize skin cancer cases based on clinical criteria including type, size, and location.
- Provide explanations of Mohs procedures to patients, setting appropriate expectations.
- Conduct pre-operative assessments and ensure necessary medications are processed as per provider instructions.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- Perform additional duties as required.
- Maintain necessary professional licensure/certifications.
- Travel to other locations as needed.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 3 years experience as a Medical Assistant.
- CCMA/RMA Certification preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience handling phone inquiries, understanding surgical procedures, common pathology diagnoses, and effective patient scheduling.
