In this exciting role as Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for Spinal Manufacturing Operations with a focus on project management, process improvement, and cost-saving initiatives. The role is responsible for managing the technical aspect of product and process transfers, supporting manufacturing partners, and driving activities to ensure high-quality, cost-effective production.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
Oversee the technical execution of product and process transfers to manufacturing partners, ensuring smooth implementation and compliance with all requirements.
Provide expert technical support to manufacturing partners, including troubleshooting, process improvements, and ongoing engineering guidance.
Proactively identify and implement cost-saving opportunities across processes and systems.
Lead or contribute to the evaluation of cost-reduction initiatives, including performing Proforma financial analyses and executing projects to achieve or exceed savings targets.
Drive the on-time completion of engineering and cost-optimization projects in alignment with business objectives.
Plan, coordinate, and support formal process validations and qualifications, including protocol development, execution, and comprehensive documentation.
Collaborate on Measurement System Analysis (MSA) initiatives to ensure alignment with design intent and business needs.
Champion key manufacturing methodologies such as PFMEA, Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Demand Flow Technology (DFT), and Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) to develop robust, capable processes.
Act as a key liaison with manufacturing partners to integrate DFM principles, enhance process yields, and reduce production costs.
Provide technical direction in the design, evaluation, and optimization of fixtures, equipment, test methods, and production layouts to support Lean manufacturing objectives.
Review, approve, and manage design and process changes to ensure full compliance with Medtronic standards, quality expectations, and regulatory requirements.
Support material and supplier selection and qualification processes to meet evolving manufacturing demands.
Maintain effective communication with global manufacturing teams, accommodating time zone differences to ensure collaborative success.
Ensure all manufacturing activities adhere to product specifications, industry standards, and applicable quality and regulatory requirements.
Comply with and promote adherence to all relevant quality policies and procedures to maintain system integrity and deliver high-quality results.

Must Have (Minimum Requirements)

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field with a minimum of 4 years of related manufacturing experience, OR
Advance degree in engineering or a related field with a minimum of 2 years of related manufacturing experience
Nice to Have (Preferred Qualifications)
Proven ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with team members and external stakeholders.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with hands-on experience utilizing tools such as DMAIC and Root Cause Analysis in manufacturing environments.
Proficient in Lean manufacturing methodologies, including PFMEA and Six Sigma principles.
Well-versed in Design Verification and Validation activities, including the creation of validation protocols and reports, SPC, Process Control Plans, MSA, GR&R, and IQ/OQ/PQ procedures.
Experienced in VAVE (Value Analysis/Value Engineering) and gauging systems, including gauge design and construction.
In-depth knowledge of various manufacturing processes, including machining, molding, grinding, forming, assembly, welding, finishing, cleaning, passivation, anodizing, shot peening, mass media operations, coatings, EDM, casting, forging, and polishing.
Up to date with the latest manufacturing methods, technologies, and industry best practices.
Background in project management, with the capability to lead multiple projects simultaneously and deliver high-quality results under pressure.
Skilled at working collaboratively in cross-functional teams and engaging with stakeholders at all organizational levels.
Flexible and adaptable to support global manufacturing operations across various time zones.
