Overview

Kimley-Horn is looking for Planning graduates to join ou Downtown Los Angeles, CA office focusing on Transportation! This is not a remote position.  

Responsibilities

  • Solve complex problems, assist project managers, and collaborate across disciplines to produce our clients’ visions for the future built environment.
  • Gain exposure to diverse project experiences as we provide services to both the public and private sectors.
  • Develop familiarity with the federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Kimley-Horn’s and our client’s practices, procedures, and standards.
  • Coordinate with various municipal and state agencies and private sector clients.
  • Prepare planning studies including active transportation plans, bike master plans, Safe Routes to School (SRTS) plans, parking studies, and traffic impact studies. Assist with development of grant applications for public agencies.
  • Prepare for and participate in community engagement meetings. Coordinate with stakeholders and residents to provide information about projects and gather feedback.
  • Under the guidance of civil and traffic engineers, design and prepare plans for transportation projects including active transportation improvements, roadway reconfigurations, and traffic signal installations and modifications.
  • Conduct analyses and make recommendations to improve flow and safety of intersections (signalized and unsignalized) and roadway segments. Conduct safety analysis by analyzing crash data to identify trends and evaluated recommended countermeasures.
  • Contribute to the pre-construction planning, modification, permitting, and analysis for multiple projects ranging in size and scope.
  • Utilize technical software programs on a regular basis to analyze, produce, and QC deliverables for our clients including:
    • General - Office, Excel, ArcGIS PRO
    • Traffic Operations - Synchro, Vistro, Sidra
    • Big Data/Mobility Analytics - Replica, Streetlight

Qualifications

  • A Planning Degree (Bachelors or Masters) from an accredited program by Summer of 2025 in these majors:  
    • City and Regional Planning 
    • Urban Planning
    • Transportation Planning  
    • Or Other Related Major

Salary Range: $82,000 - 89,500
