Position Overview: We are adding an experienced Surveyor Project Manager, who has previous construction layout experience to our team. As a Surveyor Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring accurate and precise surveying for construction projects, while leading and developing team members. You will collaborate with engineers, architects, and construction teams to establish reference points, stakeout locations, and provide guidance throughout the construction process.

Salary Range: $120,000.00 - $135,000.00 Annual DOE

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with company managers, project managers, and construction teams to ensure efficient and accurate construction layout by field staff.
  • Develop the skill set of field surveyors, leading them in the growth of their knowledge and gaining the experience required to complete their task.
  • Negotiate and execute agreements with the Operators Unions across the US.
  • Manage budgets and scopes on multiple large projects in coordination with the HLM Survey Manager.
  • Coordinate with HLM Survey Manager to recruit and hire surveyors and staff across the US as needed.

Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities 

Education, Certifications or Licenses 

  • High School Diploma or GED required

Experience

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in land surveying, with knowledge of construction layout.
  • Experience using surveying instruments, such as GPS, Total stations, and data collectors.
  • Professional experience with construction plans, specifications, and industry standards.

Position Related Skills

  • Proficient in AutoCAD and land surveying software.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Physical Functions

  • Workday is a combination of being stationary and moving about the work location. Up to 75% of the work day is spent outdoors negotiating construction sites
  • Must be able to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolds, stairs and work in confined spaces
  • Must be able to regularly position self in a kneeling, crouching or crawling position.
  • Must have the ability to lift or manipulate up to 50 pounds to a height of up to three feet, and carry or push it 50-100 feet
  • Frequently operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. Frequently uses machinery and other tools to operate, activate, use, prepare, inspect, place, detect and position materials
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus in an outdoor environment.  Must be able to; visually inspect work, and look for small defects, small parts, and/or operate machines (including inspection); use measurement devices; and/or assemble or fabricate parts.   The worker is required to have the ability to perform duties such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; reading printed and digital documents
  • Must be able to work in proximity to loud equipment 50% of the time with the appropriate hearing protection and safety PPE.  Must be able to wear hearing protection as necessary. Often required to communicate with customers and coworkers in an office setting and, on the phone,/digital meetings
  • Ability to communicate laws, ordinances, plans, regulations, protocols, directives, and standard operating procedures related to project scope
  • Job will require working outdoors in all types of weather conditions and exposure to elements up to 75% of the time, with the remainder of the work day spent in an office setting
