Director, Enterprise Talent Acquisition
Job Description
We are seeking a Director of Enterprise Talent Acquisition to lead recruitment strategy and process improvement across the Hearst business portfolio, as well as execute on select recruitment needs. Our businesses each have recruitment teams focused on their respective talent needs; this role will support those teams by identifying opportunities for collaboration, standardized processes, training, and shared technology platforms. The Director will establish and lead a small, high-performing recruiting team focused on hiring business support roles (e.g., finance, HR, technology) across our decentralized business units. This individual will partner closely with our People Systems and Operations (PSO) team to enhance our recruiting tools and technology; as new recruiting technologies are identified, the Director will collaborate with our PSO team to drive implementation and adoption.
Key Responsibilities
Talent Acquisition Leadership:
- Develop the business case for shared recruitment efforts across the enterprise – identify the functions to be supported, size the potential cost savings or effectiveness improvement, and syndicate with business HR leaders.
- Based on the business case analysis, build and lead a small, centralized recruiting team dedicated to hiring for business support functions.
- Implement best-in-class recruiting strategies to attract top-tier talent across diverse industries.
- Partner with business-specific recruitment teams to share insights, best practices, and talent market trends.
- Personally recruit for select open job requisitions as needed.
Process & Best Practices:
- Standardize recruiting workflows where appropriate and ensure compliance with company-wide policies.
- Establish metrics and KPIs to assess recruitment effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.
- Develop recruiter and interviewer training curricula in collaboration with the Hearst Learning team and create a plan for implementation.
Technology & Systems Improvement:
- Collaborate with the People Systems and Operations team to enhance the functionality and adoption of ATS, CRM, and other recruitment tools.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies and processes to streamline hiring and enhance candidate experience.
- Identify and help to create GenAI bots and agents to assist with Hearst recruiting – e.g., an interview guide generator, a job description generator.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Innovation:
- Foster a collaborative recruiting culture across Hearst’s business units, encouraging shared talent pools and strategic hiring partnerships.
- Identify opportunities for cost efficiencies and centralized solutions that support decentralized teams.
- Serve as a thought leader on talent acquisition trends, workforce planning, and employer branding.
- Identify awards and conferences that benefit the enterprise and coordinate our strategy to participate.
Qualifications & Experience
- 10+ years of experience in talent acquisition, with a strong background in corporate functions hiring.
- Proven leadership experience building and managing a recruiting team.
- Expertise in recruiting tools, ATS systems (ideally with experience in Oracle/ORC), and process automation.
- Strong ability to navigate and influence within a decentralized organization.
- Track record of driving collaboration across multiple business units.
- Excellent strategic, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.
In accordance with applicable law, Hearst is required to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role if hired in California, Colorado, Illinois, New York (including New York City), or Washington. The reasonable estimate, if hired in California, Colorado, Illinois, New York (including New York City), or Washington, is $180,000-$200,000. Please note this information is specific to those hired in California, Colorado, Illinois, New York (including New York City), or Washington. If this role is open to candidates outside of California, Colorado, Illinois, New York (including New York City), or Washington, the salary range would be aligned to that specific location. A final decision on the successful candidate’s starting salary will be based on a number of permissible, non-discriminatory factors, including but not limited to skills and experience, training, certifications, and education.
