POSITION TITLE:                          Regional Financial Controller 

DIVISION:                                           Finance

REPORTS TO:                                  Regional VP, Finance

SUPERVISES:                                    Regional Manager, Payroll; Manager, Income Control; Manager, Accounting; Regional Manager, Compliance

 

JOB SUMMARY:

To ensure Regulatory and Accounting functions are in compliance with local regulatory standards, corporate policies and procedures, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. To oversee the Casino Accounting, Accounting, and Regulatory Compliance Departments.

 

JOB ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Endorse the business objectives, ethics, and values of Caesars Entertainment in accordance with the Code of Commitment and Mission, Vision, and Values   
  • Ensure that the casino operates with the parameters of the Internal Control Regulations, Harrah’s Cherokee Casinos' strategic plan, and all internal policies and procedures
  • Prepare and/or assist with property(s) operating and capital long-range planning
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and reports for each individual operating entity on a consolidated basis
  1. Coordinate the month-end closing process 
  2. Coordinate the annual close process 
  3. Responsible for all the entity's fixed asset and construction accounting
  4. Review financial statements monthly, monitoring revenues and expenses
  5. Review analysis and reconciliation of Balance Sheet Accounts
  6. Perform variance analysis and other analytics to help improve the operations of the Casino
  7. Prepare loan compliance documents as contractually required
  8. Responsible for cash management
  9. Responsible for the preparation and distribution of the weekly Tribal Distribution forecast
  10. Participate in annual and long-range planning for the casino
  11. Prepare/assist with property (s) operating and long-range capital planning.
  12. Prepare materials for monthly financial review meetings with upper management
  13. Communicate monthly financial results to members of Property leadership as required
  14. Coordinate external audit activities for financial accounting to meet due dates and timelines
  15. Prepare written correspondence as required by internal audit, external audit, loan compliance, EBCI, TGC, or any other areas as assigned
  16. Aid in the coordination and preparation of the annual budget for each operating entity
  17. Work with the IT department to facilitate any system upgrades and maintenance of the financial systems
  18. Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures and external regulatory agencies
  19. Work closely with TGC to ensure compliance with regulatory changes
  20. Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  21. Responsible for procurement, receiving, expediting, and warehousing of all materials, supplies, equipment, services, and uniforms for the Property 
  22. Maintain compliance with corporate and Tribal purchasing procedures
  23. Responsible for the preparation and distribution of the weekly Tribal Distribution forecast
  24. Ensure the department provides excellent internal customer service to all casino departments
  25. Train subordinates, providing each with the knowledge, development, and appropriate direction to perform their responsibilities.
  26. Exhibit sound decision-making with an emphasis on motivating the team and maintaining high morale
  27. Provide continuous positive coaching for the development of employees and appropriate corrective action when necessary
  28. Ensure timely and accurate performance appraisals and accurate work history entries
  29. Participative member of the team by volunteering and being involved in projects, committees, and task forces, by providing input and suggestions
  30. Proactive with incidents and issues, ensuring resolution with employees 
  31. Lead an organization with methods and actions that are ethical and in full compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Company policies
  32. Identify compliance risks and take actions necessary to eliminate or minimize risks
  33. Champion, within the organization, a commitment to honesty, integrity, and responsible corporate behavior
  34. Create a compliance culture within the organization and foster an environment where employees feel comfortable reporting potential violations or misconduct 
  35. Ability to uphold and demonstrate the highest level of integrity in all situations and recognize standards required by a regulated business
  36. Adhere to regulatory, departmental, and company policies/procedures in an ethical manner

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A BSBA degree from an accredited educational institution in Accounting or Finance is required
  • A CPA or Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited educational institution is required
  • Three years of management experience in Accounting or Finance is required
  • Five years of supervisory experience in Accounting or Finance is required
  • Five years of accounting experience in the gaming industry is required
  • Must demonstrate the following essential knowledge and skills:
  • Proficient in the use of Windows-based office software, including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Knowledge of accounting software
  • Ability to work independently
  • Documented teamwork behaviors and attitudes
  • Experience in a highly regulated environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Knowledge of casino audit and accounting systems

PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

  1. Must be able to stoop, bend, reach, kneel, twist, and grip items
  2. Must be able to respond to visual and aural cues
  3. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English
  4. Must have the manual dexterity and coordination to operate office equipment, including computers, fax machines, and photocopiers
  5. Must be able to work at a fast pace and in stressful situations
  6. Must be able to lift 25 pounds and carry up to 5 pounds
  7. Must be able to travel overnight if required
  8. Must be able to tolerate areas containing varying noise and temperature levels, illumination, vibration, crowds, and air quality, including secondhand smoke
  9. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays
