WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
The Membership & Operations Manager is a motivated, idea-generating professional who will grow GRAMMY U (GU) membership by creating new outreach opportunities, forming relationships with key stakeholders in community organizations and higher education, supervising GU Representatives on all membership-related initiatives, creating marketing strategies and content, and supporting programming to increase membership value and brand visibility. Working closely with our People & Culture department, you will train, onboard, and offboard all GU Reps and oversee the selection of Ambassadors. You will also work with our IT department on Salesforce and Freshdesk as well as oversee the operational budget with the Managing Director. You are a forward-thinker who utilizes all resources possible to create unique ideas to reach and engage the college and Gen-Z demographic through activations, marketing, programming, and media.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Grow and engage GU’s global membership (ages 18–29) through strategic outreach including social media, content creation, editorial on GRAMMY.com, community partnerships, events, email and print campaigns, branded merch, program development, and collaboration with our affiliates.
- Expand GU membership touchpoints and engagement throughout the entire journey of membership including new and recently expired members, and alumni.
- Develop ideas to create more connection opportunities within the community.
- Work directly with IT and Membership & Industry Relations Outreach & Systems on Salesforce and application changes including enhancement opportunities in relation to member journeys from GU to Voting/Professional and Dual membership.
- Partner with People & Culture to onboard, offboard and train incoming GU Reps.
- Organize all logistics for GU Rep travel and experiences for GRAMMY Week and other applicable programming.
- Act as primary contact for GU Chapter Supervisors, overseeing communication and approvals for local initiatives and funding.
- Lead GU Rep membership efforts by training, supporting, and guiding Reps to drive growth through outreach and programming. Manage data-driven projects, create resources and templates, and ensure Reps are equipped to confidently present membership information in various settings.
- Manage the planning, execution and maintenance of new GU membership initiatives and opportunities through robust marketing plans, creation of internal templates and instructions, data-based goals, and creative activations with an entrepreneurial approach.
- Manage the review and approval process for all GU applications.
- Manage daily GU member inquiries via Freshdesk, email inboxes, and direct communication.
- Generate, analyze and share membership reports to support Partnership, Marketing, and Communications objectives.
- Assist the Managing Director in monitoring the operational budget, ensuring marketing, travel, GU Rep and team expenses stay within limits.
- Create short-term and long-term strategies for membership with tangible goals and regular analysis to be shared with the GU and Membership teams.
- Work closely with Chapter staff and Membership department to regularly communicate GU membership updates, monthly membership analysis, Chapter goals, and other relevant guidance and information.
- Increase opportunities, provide training and defining clear roles for GU Ambassadors globally, focusing on membership outreach and growth.
- Manage the GU Mentorship Program and its application process for 2000+ participants globally.
- Manage logistics for GU tentpole programs including Splash setup, RSVP management, and VIP experiences.
- Work with IT and Digital Media teams on GRAMMY.com website and application updates regularly.
- Support the Managing Director on projects, programs, and presentations as needed including production, education, community initiatives, and staff trainings. Collaborate with the Managing Director to build ongoing partnerships across Academy departments.
- Represent GU in meetings, presentations, events, and conversations with sponsors and guests. Represent GU as needed at conferences, festivals, community engagements, media opportunities, and other membership-relevant activities.
- Supervise National Membership Representative.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- 3+ years of professional membership management or related experience. Experience working with membership databases and customer service strongly preferred.
- Connections and experience in the music business or music education, including strong relationships with community organizations in the music industry.
- Experience in developing and executing marketing plans for social media, email databases, campus networks, terrestrial marketing, and strategic ideas to reach the Gen Z and college student demographic. Experience researching and compiling data analytics strongly preferred.
- Live event production experience including setup/breakdown, talent oversight, agreements, audience experience management, and some A/V knowledge.
- Strong leadership skills and experience managing a team. Experience working with sponsors and executing partnership deliverables strongly preferred.
- Excellent writing/grammar and communication skills, including public speaking skills and some on-camera experience.
- Working knowledge of Canva, Photoshop and/or InDesign preferred. Experience with Salesforce a plus.
- Ability to maintain composure in high-stress, complex situations while making decisions, communicating and delegating clearly, and providing welcoming hospitality.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects efficiently.
- Must be available and willing to travel about 5 times/year and work overtime, weekends, and across time zones as needed.

SALARY AND BENEFITS
The starting salary for this position is $68,600 to $75,800 per year, benchmarked against industry standards. Salaries for positions required to be in specific geographic locations reflect the corresponding labor market.
