Position Summary

Fordham University seeks a dynamic and visionary leader to serve as its inaugural Associate Vice President (AVP) for Enrollment Marketing—who will shape and elevate the University’s efforts to attract, engage, and enroll the next generation of Fordham students. Reporting directly to the Vice President for Marketing and Communications, the AVP will serve as the strategic architect of a comprehensive, data-informed marketing and communications strategy focused on driving undergraduate enrollment growth, while also supporting select graduate and professional programs.

As a senior leader within the Office of Marketing and Communications, and working in close collaboration with Undergraduate Admission and other divisions across the institution, the AVP will lead the development and implementation of compelling enrollment funnel campaigns that build awareness, inspire engagement, and influence prospective students’ decision-making. The AVP will ensure Fordham’s brand is expressed with clarity, creativity, and authenticity—resonating deeply with diverse audiences and aligning with the University’s mission and values. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and builder, fluent in modern enrollment marketing practices, with a nuanced understanding of the higher education landscape and prospective student journey.

Expertise in digital marketing across the higher ed landscape is essential, including CRM and marketing automation platforms (experience with Slate and Salesforce preferred), SEO/SEM, social media, email marketing, paid media, and content marketing. The AVP will be adept at orchestrating these channels into cohesive campaigns that deliver targeted, high-impact experiences. This leader must also bring operational rigor and agility, with demonstrated success managing complex initiatives using iterative, agile project management frameworks. An ability to adapt quickly, communicate effectively across stakeholders, and deliver high-quality results in a dynamic environment is essential.

This leader will oversee an integrated, cross-functional team responsible for digital and traditional marketing, content strategy, creative development, and brand stewardship. The AVP will champion a culture of innovation, performance, and accountability—driving measurable results across key enrollment indicators, including admit rate, yield, and melt. This is a player-coach role, as the AVP will be hands-on in daily operational execution, while serving as a trusted leader to their respective team and colleagues across the University.

Essential Functions        

Strategic Leadership, Planning, and Collaboration

  • Develops and implements a comprehensive, data-driven marketing strategy to deliver upon enrollment goals with undergraduate enrollment as a primary focus, while also supporting graduate and professional programs.
  • Collaborates with senior leadership to align marketing initiatives with the University’s strategic priorities, evolving brand platform, and enrollment objectives.
  • Leads the creation and execution of annual marketing plans, setting clear objectives, timelines, and performance metrics.
  • Works closely with Admissions/Enrollment Strategy, Academic Affairs, Enrollment and Institutional Technology, Student Affairs, and other departments to ensure cohesive and integrated marketing efforts that deliver a consistent experience to prospective students and their families.

Brand Development & Messaging

  • Steward intentional and consistent application of Fordham University’s brand identity across enrollment marketing touchpoints with the goal of increasing awareness and growing inquiries among target enrollment populations.
  • Crafts compelling messaging that highlights the University’s unique value propositions and resonates with diverse prospective student populations.
  • Leads collaborations in the management of the University’s digital presence supporting enrollment marketing, including owned and paid channels.

Team Leadership & Management

  • Leads, mentors, and develops a team of data-driven marketing professionals, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented environment.
  • Conducts regular performance evaluations and professional development planning for team members.
  • Leads strategic partnerships with marketing agencies and vendor partners to deliver against Fordham’s enrollment marketing goals.
  • Ensures effective management of budget, personnel, and technology to maximize impact.

Data Analysis & Performance Measurement

  • Utilizes analytics and market research to assess the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and strategies.
  • Monitor key performance indicators related to enrollment marketing and adjust strategies as needed to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Prepares regular reports for senior leadership on marketing performance, trends, and insights.

Provides strategic leadership and supervises others who supervise. Responsible for hiring, training, developing, managing performance, administering corrective action, makes compensation decisions and for managing strategic views at a high level.

Required Qualifications: Education and Experience        

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in enrollment or growth marketing, preferably in higher education.

Required Qualifications: Knowledge and Skills     

  • Proven track record of developing, executing, and exceeding enrollment marketing goals with a focus on growing enrollment at scale.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated Experience managing and leading cross-functional teams to achieve organizational goals.
  • Strong attention to deep understanding of population sets and selection, and experience with complex data sets and protocols.
  • Successful candidates should have a knowledge of and commitment to the goals of Jesuit Education.

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Advance degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field

Minimum Starting Salary: $190,000

Maximum Starting Salary: $220,000

Note: Salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and skills.
