Persons in this position perform laboratory experiments and tasks at the request of the immediate supervising scientist in support of the scientist’s programs. This position is in the Research, Development, & Innovation group for the Business Line Oil Additives.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Set up and carry out a variety of experiments, analyses, and tests following detailed instructions or SOP’s, both written and unwritten.

  • Operate standard and specialized equipment involved in a particular laboratory.

  • Record data and observations and keep an up-to-date laboratory notebook.

  • Report unusual results or equipment operation to supervisor.

  • Perform basic computer skills in MS Office and internal software environments in order to create and update tables, modify experimental runsheets, and write short summaries

  • Perform routine maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment Report break downs and arrange for servicing.

  • Maintain equipment logbook which includes but not limited to trouble shooting, calibration records and inventory of supplies.

  • Properly maintain control chart or calibration records.

  • Works in compliance with ESHQ requirements for work in chemical laboratories.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Computer proficiency required with emphasis on Office 365

  • Works with guidance (but not constant supervision) to perform necessary actions based on recommendations and requirements.

  • Associate degree in Chemistry or closely related science required with minimum 3 years’ experience; Bachelor's degree preferred.

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills

  • Polymer Chemistry experience preferred

  • Oil and Gas Industry experience preferred
