The CAF is headquartered in San Diego with regional offices in New York City, San Francisco and Boise, Idaho. This is a full-time, exempt position with a hybrid schedule. 


Position Overview 

Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Business Development, the Development Coordinator will play a critical role in supporting CAF’s fundraising and relationship-building efforts. They will be responsible for database management, campaign & event support, pitch deck preparation, and prospect research amongst other duties. The ideal candidate will have exceptional communication skills, a passion for making an impact, and the ability to think strategically while managing day-to-day tasks.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Research and identify potential partners and donor prospects.
  • Coordinate proposal materials (athlete bios, project qualifications) and ensure all materials are regularly updated.
  • Assist with preparation of pitch decks. 
  • Assist in researching and identifying potential partners and funders; learn how to qualify relevant opportunities based on company capabilities and priorities.
  • CRM Database maintenance: Assist in integrating grant funder and corporate sponsor information into Salesforce.
  • Track local funder interests and due dates. 
  • Toolkit distribution list maintenance: compile, update, and organize contact for existing partners and funders.
  •  Proofread copy for various writing projects for internal/external use.
  • Aid in developing standard operating procedures (SOP) that help explain new and not-yet-documented processes.

Events and Development:

  • Organize mailing lists and other spreadsheets.
  • Update narratives for distribution to event participants.
  •  Aid in executing external events, including scouting venues, managing a budget, finalizing invite lists, monitoring RSVPs, and ensuring a positive attendee experience.
  • Aid in identifying and tracking relevant external events and performing post-event follow-up with attendees.
  • Assist in preparing event materials and collateral for the Gala and Million Dollar Challenge (MDC)

Requirements

  

  • Availability to occasionally work evenings and weekends with increased responsibilities around event dates. 
  •  Work is performed in an office-like setting and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. 
  • Must have the ability to lift and carry small parcels, packages and other items, to walk short distances, and drive a vehicle to attend occasional events.

Experience 

  •  Experience working in business development, fundraising, or partnership management strongly preferred.
  •  Experience in the nonprofit sector is a plus.
  •  Strong interpersonal and networking skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships.
  •  Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience with proposals and presentations.
  • Analytical skills with attention to detail and organization.
  •  Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PPT & Excel especially) and CRM tools.
  •  Passion for the nonprofit’s mission and commitment to driving positive change.
  •  Ability to persuasively present and interpret the mission, goals and programs.

Skills & Competencies

  • A strong commitment to the CAF mission and to the objectives, goals, and programs of the organization.
  • Knowledge of the techniques of donor/prospect research with the ability to extract and distill pertinent information from multiple sources. 
  • Ability and confidence to work successfully with a variety of individuals and personalities (donors corporate partners, board members, athletes, etc.)
  • Excellent presentation skills, showcasing the ability to engage and communicate effectively.
  • Demonstration of utmost courtesy, confidentiality, and a collaborative and accountable approach to accomplishing work.
  • Adept, confident and proven in multi-tasking, entrepreneurial non-profit or business environment.


Total Compensation

CAF offers a competitive compensation package including Medical/Dental/Vision insurance (monthly stipend if not enrolled in medical insurance), employer paid Basic Life and Long-Term Disability Insurance, 401k match, paid time off, and paid holidays. 

Annual Salary: $68,700
