Description

 Cascade Dafo is currently hiring a full-time Controller at our Ferndale facility. This position will direct the financial operations of Cascade Dafo and Cascade Prosthetics and Orthotics (sister company), including the establishment of financial policies, procedures and controls, budgeting, planning, investing, and other financial and reporting matters. The Controller may serve as an officer of the corporation. 


Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Oversees the operations of the Accounting Department, which includes general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial reporting, bank reconciliations, cash and credit/collections.
  • Hires, trains, and coaches accounting staff; conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
  • Handles all department personnel issues in accordance with company policy.

Officer Responsibilities

  • Coordinates board meetings; manages the minutes, distributions, and resolutions of the board.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages and maintains all accounting functions in accordance with GAAP, including GL, AR, Credit and Collections, AP and Cash. Directs accounting staff to achieve such in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Prepares budgets by establishing schedules, collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data. Provides feedback to stakeholders on variances and suggests corrective actions.
  • Provides status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data.
  • Prepare variance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing key information and trends.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, filing financial reports and advising management on needed actions.
  • Monitors and ensures timely filing of all state, local and federal taxes as appropriate. Monitors Nexus status.
  • Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies, procedures and internal controls.
  • Manages annual review and renewal of business liability insurance.
  • Reviews contracts for other departments and managers. Confirms legal and operational relevance.
  • Maximizes return while limiting risk on cash and investments.
  • Monitors and carry’s out Syspro maintenance tasks and runs the month end roll for all companies.
  • Prepares and submits certain compliance related reporting and payments in a timely manner.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational events and reviewing professional publications as appropriate.
  • Protects operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.
  • Coordinates with outside resources such as attorneys and accountants; ensuring projects are completed timely.
  • Short term and long term strategic advice to ownership regarding business operations and financial integrity.
  • Supports Cascade’s business, culture, and customer needs.

  • Proven leadership and management skills with the ability to motivate and direct an accounting team
  • Excellent and highly accurate math and accounting skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Solid understanding of data analysis, budgeting and business operations
  • Excellent time management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong accounting fundamentals with an in-depth knowledge GAAP
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; intermediate or advanced Excel
  • Must be able to communicate in English, written and verbal

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration required
  • 10+ years of progressively increasing responsibility and achievement in Accounting
  • CPA or CMA designation preferred

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work / Travel

This is a full-time, in-house, exempt position requiring management-level commitment. Although travel may be required at times, this position does not require any travel on a regular basis.

  • Competitive Wages: Starting wage is $118,400 - $130,000, DOE. Full wage range for this role is $118,400 - $149,900.

  • 401(k): Cascade offers a traditional and a ROTH 401k plan to you after 90 days of employment. We fund a company match (up to 4%) per payroll and a 401(k) end of year profit sharing contribution.
