What We Are Looking For
Baylor University seeks an experienced and visionary leader for the position of Director/Sr. Director, Market Engagement and Innovation Strategy. This role is pivotal in advancing Baylor's mission to foster global human flourishing. The incumbent will lead the development and operations of the Applied Innovation Laboratory for Global Human Flourishing, driving forward innovative research and interdisciplinary collaborations. Additionally, the role will spearhead market and community engagement initiatives, creating and implementing strategies to translate research into actionable frameworks that promote human flourishing at both local and global levels.
This is a remote position with frequent travel to/from campus.
This position is temporary with an anticipated end date one year from start. Pending performance and the availability of funding, this position may be extended.
A Bachelor's degree and ten years of relevant work experience is required. A Master’s degree is preferred.
A combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of the degree requirement.

What You Will Do
Lead the Human Flourishing Applied Innovation Laboratory
- Establish and enable Innovation Laboratory vision and goals
- Define and gather resources, processes, and tools needed to run the Innovation Lab; assess current assets that support the vision and goals; build out assets still needed
- Build and manage external relationships with industry leaders, community stakeholders, and funding partners
- Guide strategic initiatives to ensure the lab’s work aligns with Baylor's needs, and the market and societal needs
- Drive collaboration between academia, business, and government sectors
- Oversee innovation projects that translate research into real-world applications for Baylor and beyond
- Partner with Harvard for collaboration, learning, and mutual advancement of ideas and tools
- Support Innovation Lab Team, providing resources and removing barriers, to the work they are doing to support the market demand for Human Flourishing
Lead Market and Community Engagement (Senior Client Partner)
- Maintain current relationships and ensure needed support is provided
- Expand relationships in the San Antonio market, along the I-35 corridor, and beyond Texas..."For the Church, For Texas, For the World."
- Integrate market findings into the scope and direction of Innovation Laboratory work
- Develop and manage Customer Relationship Management process and tool for Human Flourishing advocates and clients
- Develop and implement the Market Communities of Practice
- Develop and manage the Human Flourishing Training Center (team and partners to be hired)
- Identify and support "storytelling" opportunities, in collaboration with the Research team and the Communications team (team and partners to be hired)
- Develop demand for a Global Human Flourishing Symposium and then lead the effort to establish it (team and partners to be hired)
Support Integration of Human Flourishing at Baylor & Flourishing and the Church
- Serve on leadership team and collaborate with the team to integrate Human Flourishing at Baylor to bring solutions and tools as well as vision and innovation. "Every Bear. Every Where."
- Serve as the Texas lead for the Flourishing and the Church program (led out of Harvard)
- Leverage deep knowledge of the church and of pastoring to ensure the approach is achievable, communication is understandable, timing is reasonable, and outcomes are transformational (as opposed to programmatic)
- Play critical role in delivering key messages to raise awareness and understanding as well as problem solve when issues are encountered
Oversee Human Flourishing Implementation Projects (Senior Client Partner)
- Act as Client Relationship Partner for consulting projects
- Source and hire consulting talent to staff all projects (can be on a contract basis as opposed to Baylor FTE).
- Bring methodology, tools, and technology developed in the Innovation Laboratory to projects
- Conduct Quality Assurance reviews with client leaders at the project mid-point and endpoint
Support Financial Development Efforts
- Partner with the Development team to prepare for and participate in donor development conversations.
- Present content at donor development events
- Maintain relationships with potential donors, as needed
Other
- Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor’s mission
- Ability to comply with university policies
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance
