Wright-Hennepin Cooperative Electric Association is a member-owned, not-for-profit electric utility that provides power to rural Wright County and western Hennepin County. The cooperative has been a corporate citizen to the area since 1937 and currently serves more than 50,000 electric accounts. 


The Marketing and Communications Specialist develops, creates and distributes content to inform, educate and influence existing and potential members and customers through a multi-channel workplan that includes SEO, print newsletter, e-newsletter, social media, website content, video creation and news releases. This storyteller creates and manages education and marketing campaigns across channels to support business and team goals.  This role implements the workflows developed by the team, monitors campaign performance, collaborates with the Communications Specialist to ensure cohesive and effective messaging, and generates reports and insights on campaign outcomes. 


This position reports to the VP Marketing, Communications and Member Services, and works closely with the other members of a small marketing and communications team.  Wright-Hennepin communicates with members of the electric Cooperative as well as customers in the security and alarm monitoring industries.


Key Responsibilities: 

Customer Engagement

  • Update websites through a content management system.
  • Create digital content for communications and marketing including graphics and illustrations.
  • Maintain and monitor social media accounts and trends.  Use data and trends to develop, write content, create and place paid ads and work to increase engagement with members and customers.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key customers. 

Marketing Content

  • Gather relevant data to inform content creation and dissemination.
  • Understand the marketing funnel and help move consumers through it.
  • Interact with sales team to identify key goals and barriers to engagement and action. 
  • Plan and create visual content for newsletters and other channels to direct customers and members.
  • Plan, modify, and update existing communication and marketing visual content such as brochures and postcards. Coordinate printing and mailing when appropriate. 
  • Take photographs for newsletters, direct mail and social media sites.
  • Create new education and marketing collateral. Coordinate printing and mailing when appropriate.
  • Record and produce communication and marketing videos to educate and promote to drive business goals.
  • Create new multi-channel education and marketing content, including automated drip campaigns. Determine success and adjust as needed.
  • Develop yearly marketing and communication workplans.  Determine budgets and plan resources.
  • Analyze data and make recommendations to update materials based on data. 
  • Manage Google Ads.
  • Manage the marketing from start to finish for subsidiary business. Manage print vendors, freelancers (web and print), and determine yearly goals.

Event Planning

  • Assist with event planning and marketing.
  • Attend after-hours company and industry events (5-10 per year).

Location:

This is a full-time in-office position at our company headquarters. We are based in Rockford MN, 15 miles west of Plymouth on Hwy 55.

  

Pay & Benefits:

Pay Range - $25.00-35.00/hour depending on experience and qualifications

Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, or related field
  • 5+ years of professional communications or marketing experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software including Teams, Word, Excel, ClipChamp, and OneDrive
  • Proficient with Adobe InDesign, Adobe Premier Pro, Canva and Photoshop 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Understanding of marketing funnel, KPIs, B2B, B2C, and compelling CTAs
  • Excellent knowledge of platforms including Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Canva and automated workflows
  • Project management platform familiarity including Lytho, preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to implement AP Stylebook guidelines in content creation
  • Demonstrated digital marketing experience 
  • Comfortable interviewing sources for content
  • Comfortable interacting with sales and member experience team to gather feedback
  • Interest in learning about the electric industry and cooperative culture
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of basic videography and video editing software
  • Ability to attend after-hours events
