Position Summary:

The Director of Legal, Internal Audit & Compliance will serve as a key member of the Americas regional leadership team, overseeing legal affairs, compliance management, data protection, and internal audits across the region. This role ensures alignment with corporate policies and legal requirements, proactively mitigates risks, and enhances operational integrity throughout all Americas-based entities.


Primary Job Duties:

Legal Affairs

  • Build, manage, and lead the regional legal function.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, focusing on commercial and competition law.
  • Provide legal counsel on general matters, including insurance claims and litigation support.
  • Coordinate with external legal counsel, particularly for cross-border legal issues or litigation.

Compliance Management

  • Establish and implement a robust compliance framework within the Americas region that aligns with Wilo Group’s Compliance Management System.
  • Advise the Regional Board on compliance matters and risk assessments.
  • Coordinate compliance risk evaluations across local entities and consolidate findings for senior leadership.
  • Conducted investigations of compliance breaches and prepared reports for SVP GLIAC and regional leadership.
  • Train and support Local Compliance Representatives.
  • Develop and enforce regional compliance policies while coordinating local adaptations.

Internal Audit

  • Establish and lead the internal audit function for the region.
  • Create and execute a risk-based audit plan tailored to regional operations.
  • Conduct audits, identify risks, and ensure proper follow-up and implementation of recommendations.
  • Report audit findings to the Global Internal Audit team.

Data Protection Compliance

  • Implement and monitor compliance with group-wide data protection requirements.
  • Serve as the regional lead for data privacy-related policies and investigations.

Travel Requirements: Moderate regional travel is required by up to 35%.

Pay Range: Commensurate with experience

Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree is required; a Juris Doctor or law degree is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in legal affairs, ideally with a strong corporate or commercial law foundation.
  • Demonstrated experience in compliance and internal audit within an industrial or multinational environment.
  • Strong comprehension of international legal frameworks, compliance standards, and audit methodologies.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Fluent in English; proficiency in Spanish or Portuguese is a plus.
