Position Overview
About the Role:
The VP Credit Administrator assists in managing all aspects of the credit administration process, particularly reporting on problem loans and facilitating the loan approval process. The VP Credit Administrator also helps the Underwriter Manager to oversee the Credit Analyst group in adhering to the Bank’s underwriting policies and procedures. Additionally, the Credit Administrator provides guidance to Relationship Managers and Executive Management on individual loans and the loan portfolio.
- Evaluates and examines credit requests in order to assess creditworthiness, risk classification, loan structure, and collateral analysis.
- Works with the Underwriter Manager to facilitate the underwriting and approval process.
- Monitors lending reports regarding credit metrics across the loan portfolio including delinquencies, covenants, exceptions, risk ratings, problem loans and loan status.
- Provides guidance to Relationship Managers and senior management regarding Criticized and Classified loans including TDRs and impairments.
- Assists in the development, assessment, and launch of new credit products.
- Works with the Note Department and Loan Processors to ensure that processes result in timely and accurate boarding of new loans and renewals.
- Participates in lending audits and exams, and helps to ensure lending compliance with banking regulations, including implementing recommendations resulting from exams.
- Works with Executives and across departments to ensure best practices in credit administration and managing credit risk arising from the Bank’s lending activities.
- Provides mentoring and feedback to the Credit Analyst and Relationship Management.
- Acts as a leader within the bank and represents SCCB in the community.
Requirements
Required Education:
- BA Business Administration; MBA preferred.
Preferred Prior Experience:
- Commercial lending and credit risk experience, generally gained through a minimum of seven years in banking, credit, and risk functions.
- Financial analysis and credit underwriting experience with commercial borrowers is required.
- Experience should include a minimum of three years’ management, including the development of junior staff.
Requisite Skills:
- Critical thinking and independent judgment in credit and lending decisions.
- Advanced analytical skills and ability to create meaningful credit reports using Excel.
- Ability to manage and develop lending staff, including other managers.
- Excellent written communication skills and ability to effectively convey information across the bank and also with executive management, regulators and vendors.
- Thorough knowledge of credit products and typical lending software.
- Thorough knowledge of regulatory requirements related to lending.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
