THE OPPORTUNITY

Vir Biotechnology is looking for a Temporary Executive Assistant (EA) to support our Chief Business Officer (CBO). The responsibilities of the CBO span business development, alliance management, strategy, commercial, and competitive intelligence.  In this EA role, you will provide comprehensive administrative support, enabling our CBO to focus on building and maintaining important partnerships and business relationships while maximizing the value of the other functions of the CBO team. You will be responsible for managing a busy and dynamic calendar, coordinating meetings with a wide range of external stakeholders, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations for the CBO team.

This role is based in our San Francisco, California office with the expectation to be onsite 5 days a week. Relocation benefits are not available for this position.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate complex meetings and events with internal teams and a wide range of external partners including accommodating scheduling conflicts and last-minute changes 
  • Manage highly sensitive and confidential information regarding business strategies, negotiations, and partnerships with absolute professionalism and discretion
  • Serve as an extension of the CBO, helping to build and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective partners. Gather briefing materials for meetings and ensure timely follow-up and consistent communication
  • Organize domestic and international travel, including flights, hotels, transportation, and itineraries
  • Process expense reports
  • Support special projects, team initiatives, or event planning as needed
  • Be the go-to person for day-to-day administrative needs, problem solving, and keeping the CBO organized
  • Liaise with both internal and external partners helping to build and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective partners.
  • Anticipate needs and help ensure nothing falls through the cracks

WHO YOU ARE AND WHAT YOU BRING

  • 10+ years’ experience with at least 3+ years supporting either CBOs, CFOs or CEOs
  • Experience in the biotechnology / pharmaceutical industry required
  • Demonstrated experience supporting business transactions (M&A, partnerships, or similar), including handling confidential documents and coordinating among multiple stakeholders is preferred
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Proactive and resourceful, with strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Able to maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and calendar management tools (e.g., Outlook)

WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE OFFER

The expected hourly range for this position is $58.00 to $82.00. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors.
