Job Description

The University of Maine System Information Technology (UMS:IT) team at the University of Maine campus is accepting applications for a Media Services Technician CL3 to join our team providing support for advanced classroom technology, web-based hybrid and remote learning classes, along with a variety of high-visibility campus-based events and conferences. This role plays a vital part in ensuring that seamless content presentations and technology interaction are achieved for instructors and hosts when delivering academic classes and host-based events. Our Media Service Technicians are responsible for the operations, troubleshooting, and maintenance of many complex media, classroom, and event technologies, including some occasional equipment installations and removals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle the management, maintenance, and operation of complex classroom technology systems.
  • Provide administration of end-user aspects of distance learning and classroom technology software systems.
  • Handle the configuration of complex signal diagnostic and measurement equipment.
  • Provide advanced repairs and configuration of classroom technology systems and equipment.
  • Handle the professional installation of permanent equipment and systems in classrooms and technology spaces. 
  • Design signal/control/media ingestion configuration for special events.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma, or equivalent
  • Two years of specialized training 
  • Three years of technology support experience
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Proficiency with classroom media systems, signal routing, and AV software platforms
  • Ability to work independently and manage complex technical tasks.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in various campus environments. 

Schedule and Location

  • The standard hours are Monday through Friday, from 9:30 am to 6:00 pm. 
  • Some weekend or evening hours may be required, depending on semester or departmental needs
  • The location is on the University of Maine Orono campus.

Compensation and Benefits

The starting wage is $20.84 per hour (non-negotiable), or the appropriate transfer rate for ACSUM/COLT unit members within the University of Maine System.
