Job Description
Turner & Townsend is seeking an experienced Senior Cost Manager and/or Quantity Surveyor to act as the key, day-to-day client interface, ensuring that client objectives are met through the delivery of a value-added cost management service.
This role will support a key technology client on the expansion of high-tech manufacturing facilities, contributing to one of the most significant and complex capital programs in the region.
To be successful in this role, you must have excellent communication skills and be comfortable operating in a client-facing environment. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, driven, and capable of working independently as well as collaboratively. In this high-impact position, you will provide leadership and direction while promoting the purpose, values, and vision of Turner & Townsend.
Responsibilities:
- Estimating and negotiating change orders throughout the construction lifecycle
- Providing estimate and cost planning, including producing and presenting the final cost plan
- Collaborating with design teams and general contractors to develop accurate cost estimates
- Reconciling changes and validating contractor data
- Preparing cost estimate updates and written commentary for client review
- Coordinating cost information from various sources including suppliers, subcontractors, and design teams
- Advising on engineering priorities based on cost impact
- Managing cost checks, valuations, and change control processes
- Leading contingency management and commitment tracking
- Supporting value engineering and funding presentations
- Reviewing contractor pricing and leading negotiations to ensure fair contract values
- Performing quantity surveying, cost control, and change management throughout the project lifecycle
- Producing monthly cost reports and ensuring timely agreement of final accounts
- Compiling as-built cost records for benchmarking
- Mentoring junior team members and promoting a culture of excellence
- Utilizing internal systems for financial tracking and reporting
- SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, engineering, or a related field
- 5–7+ years of relevant experience in a cost management role within the construction industry
- RICS accreditation (or working toward it) preferred
- Experience leading cost management on medium to large-scale, complex construction projects
- Strong background in construction consultancy preferred
- Solid understanding of procurement strategies, value management, and value engineering
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
