Job Description
A national nonprofit organization is seeking a Manager, Development to join its team in Austin, TX. This organization is committed to advancing research, providing direct support to individuals and families affected by ALS, and engaging in policy advocacy to improve outcomes for the community it serves.
The Development Manager will lead the execution of fundraising initiatives and events, including a flagship walk event, a golf and gala fundraiser, and support for community-organized partner activities. This role requires strong relationship management skills, a strategic mindset, and an adaptable, collaborative approach to building community and donor engagement.
Responsibilities
- Execute a strategic fundraising plan to achieve an annual income target of $550,000+, including events such as a walk, golf outing, gala, and third-party fundraisers.
- Recruit, develop, and retain volunteer event committees and foster relationships with community partners.
- Engage and support team captains and individual fundraising participants.
- Oversee event logistics and ensure adherence to budgetary constraints.
- Collaborate with program staff to involve impacted individuals and families in awareness and fundraising efforts.
- Coordinate with marketing and communications teams to achieve outreach and visibility goals.
- Conduct meetings and maintain regular outreach with sponsors, donors, vendors, and volunteer teams.
- Serve as an organizational representative at public events and engagements.
- Manage the production and distribution of promotional materials for events.
- Provide team support and contribute to a collaborative and mission-aligned culture.
- Uphold internal guidelines, compliance, and quality standards.
- Attend required meetings and regional events.
- Work cross-functionally with development and program teams to optimize effectiveness and efficiency.
- Perform other duties as needed in alignment with fundraising and mission objectives.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in fundraising, event management, volunteer coordination, donor and sponsor engagement, or related areas.
- Experience using digital fundraising platforms and analyzing data to inform outreach strategies.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to prioritize effectively and communicate clearly across multiple stakeholders.
- Demonstrated discretion and professionalism in handling confidential information.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and donor databases (e.g., Donor Pro, Convio).
- Familiarity with design tools (Quark, Illustrator, Publisher, Photoshop) is a plus.
- Willingness and ability to travel as needed.
- Salary range: $49,440 – $59,196 annually, adjusted based on location, experience, and role complexity.
