Job Description

How this position supports the vision includes the following, but is not limited to: 

  • Train and mentor new hires and interns in infrastructure development and configuration practices and technologies. 

  • Facilitate structured code and configuration reviews to ensure quality, security, and adherence to standards. 

  • Contribute and review technical and end-user documentation, design documents, and system specifications. 

  • Lead infrastructure projects with teams of 2 or more Infrastructure Admins and/or Fait IT members when requested. 

  • Maintain current knowledge of emerging technologies and industry trends relevant to the business. 

  • Evaluate and recommend appropriate tools, libraries, and frameworks for adoption in development and infrastructure projects. 

  • Evaluate and recommend best practices for software and infrastructure development lifecycle processes (SDLC). 

  • Evaluate and recommend developer coding and configuration conventions and standards. 

  • Lead knowledge pool/SME meetings 

  • Lead team check-ins and other meetings when the manager is unavailable to lead. 

  • Conduct technical workshops and training sessions on emerging technologies and coding/scripting standards. 

  • Participate in roadmap planning and risk assessment activities when requested. 

  • Provide regular communication of all tasks and initiatives to the team manager throughout project lifecycles. 

  • Assess and recommend improvements to system performance, security, scalability, and maintainability. 

  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including Fait technology teams and external resources. 

  • Analyze and resolve complex programming and system challenges using advanced knowledge of computer capabilities, developed tools, and programming logic. 

  • Establish relationships with external technology partners to develop innovative solutions and programming methods. 

  • Create user-friendly operating instructions and reference materials for technical and non-technical audiences. 

  • Actively participate in professional networks, technical communities, and professional societies to share knowledge and best practices. 

  • Participate in and provide feedback for hiring interviews when requested. 

  • Participate in ticket coverage and on-call support after hours with team rotation. 

  • Assist with tasks as requested by the team leader or management personnel. 

  • Have experience with or a strong aptitude to learn and master the skills below:

    • Windows Server, Active Directory, and Workstation management

    • Kubernetes (or equivalent) orchestration for automating deployment, scaling, and management of containerized applications across distributed infrastructure to ensure high availability and efficient resource utilization

    • Cloud infrastructure and services

    • Database management

    • Linux server management 

    • Cisco switch management 

    • Hyper-V and VMware hypervisor management

    • Solid understanding of coding logic to reverse engineer BASH (Linux)/ Batch (Windows)/Python/other code and scripts to accomplish infrastructure administrative tasks. 

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Management Information Systems or relevant IT certifications  

  • 8+ years of current experience desired, but not required in network administration of a medium sized network of servers, desktop systems, and communications devices using current technology. 

  • Willingness and aptitude to learn any of the skills below.  Existing knowledge and skills are a plus.

    • Windows Server, Active Directory, and Workstation management

    • Kubernetes (or equivalent) orchestration for automating deployment, scaling, and management of containerized applications across distributed infrastructure to ensure high availability and efficient resource utilization

    • Cloud infrastructure and services

    • Database management 

    • Linux server management 

    • Cisco switch management 

    • Hyper-V and VMware hypervisor management

    • Solid understanding of coding logic to reverse engineer BASH (Linux)/ Batch (Windows)/Python/other code and scripts to accomplish infrastructure administrative tasks

  • Solid troubleshooting and team working skills.

  • Technical writing skills to document developed policies and procedures. 

  • Ability to manage multiple projects, activities and tasks simultaneously.     

  • Ability to manage projects from conception to completion with little to no support.  

  • High levels of personal accountability; an ability to be responsible for your own actions.

  • Ensures optimal system performance with high availability, fast load times, and minimal downtime across all managed systems and services.

  • Fosters productive collaboration with cross-functional teams (Fait technology teams and external resources), evidenced by positive feedback on alignment and delivery 

  • Successfully implements and refines software and infrastructure processes and engineering best practices that enhance efficiency and development and deployment velocity 

  • Strategically reduces technical debt while improving system scalability and performance 

  • Effectively manages budgets and resources while maintaining high output quality 

  • Actively contributes to innovation initiatives that align with broader business goals 

  • Positive perception of support from co-workers, team leaders, customers, vendors, and/or suppliers. 

  • Document and communicate all changes and learnings to the necessary team members and business stakeholders 

  • Adhere to all Fait company policies, guidelines, and processes. 

 

IMPROVING THE SYSTEM 

All  Associates are responsible for documenting and fixing problems within the system. In addition, this role is responsible for improvement project participation, planning, communicating and implementing solutions where possible. 
 

PERSONAL IMPROVEMENT 

 will provide resources and support, relevant to the position, for education and training as needed.  It is the Associate’s responsibility to seek approval, schedule and participate in education and/or training that will prepare him/her for present and future needs. A post training recap may be required.
