Job Description

Role Summary:  Primarily responsible for preparing pricing data for analysis, loading new pricing information, and maintaining the data integrity in the system.  This person must effectively partner with Corporate Purchasing, Service Center Leaders, Operations Managers, Account Managers, and Accounts Payable Associates to maintain levels of excellence throughout Summit. The primary role is one that supports internal associates and enables them to service our customers. 

Principal Accountabilities: (essential job functions)

  • Support Summit’s senior leadership in the development of pricing models and structures that maximize revenue and profit margins.
  • Support pricing decisions by generating routine reports as needed and pulling data to perform requested analysis on an ad hoc basis.
  • Help identify strategic customers/products/lines that require pricing adjustments to achieve higher margins, enhance market value or increase win rates.
  • Facilitate electronic price updates for cost as well as sell conditions.
  • Load pricing data and review information for accuracy.  
  • Maintain branch level as well as Customer specific pricing.
  • Perform system material, cost, and sell price maintenance.  
  • Perform analysis of market conditions and projected price points based on market data.
  • Maintain awareness about market changes/conditions that may affect pricing.
  • Develop understanding of market characteristics that influence pricing.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Strong Customer service orientation – both external and internal.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare reports, statements, and projections.
  • Detail-oriented and highly analytical.
  • Organization.  Proven ability to maintain several concurrent activities.
  • High Proficiency in the use of a database (such as SAP or other enterprise software).  Highly skilled in the use of Microsoft Excel.
  • Unwavering commitment to Summit values and mission.
  • Flexibility – ability to effectively adapt to change and thrive in a stimulating, hectic work environment.
  • Proven do “whatever it takes” attitude and approach to work.
  • H.S. education or GED equivalent is required.

 

Beneficial Skills and Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Business, Computer Science, Economics, finance, Math, Science or Statistics is preferred.
  • Successful experience in the electrical distribution industry.
  • Experience working with ERP software (SAP) and database maintenance.
  • Fast and accurate typing skills.  10 key proficiency preferred.
  • Ability to understand discounting, pricing, and basic accounting.
  • Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision or guidance.
  • Electrical products knowledge.
  • Electrical sales/rebate and/or inventory experience, or distributor experience.

 

Physical Challenges:

  • Consistent sitting for many hours at one time.  Majority of day (85%+) is spent sitting at desk.
  • Must be able to lift 5 pounds on a regular and consistent basis.
  • Regular and consistent use of keyboard.
  • Ability to climb stairs on occasion.
  • Majority of job is located inside store, during regular store hours of operation. Additional challenges may arise, at which time; Summit may revise this job description.
