Job Description
Responsibilities
Financial Reporting of Income Taxes
- Responsible for the preparation of the monthly and annual U.S. income tax provisions
- Lead and execute self-initiated continuous improvement initiatives to standardize and streamline procedures to centralize and support the timely and accurate financial reporting of income taxes
- Monitor and assess tax risks, including the review of uncertain tax positions to ensure compliance with IAS 12 accounting standards
- Responsible for all tax installments
- Responsible for the monitoring of all annual report filings
- Responsible for tax fixed asset process (familiarity with FAS/Sage preferred)
- Responsible for the coordination of the annual Research and Development Tax Credit claim
- Responsible for the coordination of transfer pricing documentation
Controversy
- Effectively manage all tax audits and respond to all tax notices and related correspondence
Tax Planning / Special Projects
- Continuously identify opportunities, provide recommendations, and implement opportunities to:
- Minimize cash taxes
- Lower effective tax rate
- Create value for key stakeholders
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
- Professional Designation: Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA)
- Master’s Degree in Taxation or similar advanced degree in Taxation
Qualifications
- At least 7 to 8 years combined experience in:
- Audit function of a public accounting firm
- Tax function of a public accounting firm
- Corporate tax function of a multinational public company
- Strong technical tax skills and thorough understanding of domestic income tax legislation
- Knowledge of Research and Development Tax Credit
- Proven ability to research tax matters, communicate results, recommend a solution, and implement the solution
- Working knowledge of international tax, including repatriation of earnings to a foreign parent and structuring of in-bound investments would be beneficial
- Knowledge of state and local tax, including incentives for doing business in specific states, counties, and cities
- Hands-on experience with non-income tax matters (e.g., sales and use and personal property tax) would be beneficial
- Good understanding and experience with internal controls
- Solid understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards
- Thorough understanding of the financial statement audit function and financial reporting related to income taxes
- Proven ability to effectively work with different departments (e.g., treasury, accounting, legal) within an organization on tax matters
Software Knowledge
- Proficiency with FAS/Sage Depreciation Software
- Proficiency with Microsoft suite of products
- Knowledge of HFM and its capabilities a plus
Leadership Competencies
- Must be a self-starter with the ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and complete work timely and accurately
- Demonstrated problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Proven ability to review processes and identify improvements with the goal of developing best practices
