Responsibilities:
GENERAL SUMMARYWe are seeking a part-time Graduate Research Assistant to support a qualitative study focused on survey development related to perceptions of weight-related side effects of hormonal contraceptives in premenopausal women with overweight/obesity. The position is ideal for a graduate student in Nutrition and Dietetics with experience in qualitative research methodologies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assisting with participant recruitment, including the creation and distribution of study advertisements (e.g., social media posts, flyers)
- Supporting the coordination and scheduling of cognitive interviews with study participants
- Conducting cognitive interviews to assess face validity of a newly developed survey instrument
- Transcribing, coding, and analyzing qualitative data under faculty supervision
- Participating in regular research team meetings and providing updates on data collection and analysis
- Assisting with the preparation of summary reports and potential manuscript development
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Current graduate student in Nutrition and Dietetics or a related field at RIT
- Prior experience in qualitative research, especially cognitive methods and coding
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Interest in women’s health, obesity, or survey development is preferred

APPOINTMENT DETAILS
- Approximately 10 hours per week
- Duration: Two 14-week academic semesters
- Hourly wage: $20/hour + 30% benefits
- Total compensation: $7,500
