Role

Reporting to the VP HSE, the Safety Manager develops, administers, and implements companywide occupational safety programs and serves as the coordinator for the occupational safety programs within Rising Edge Technologies. The Safety Manager plans, designs, develops, implements, and evaluates departmental occupational safety programs.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for safety orientation, providing safety training, job site inspections and reporting.
  • Implements established safety programs based on direction from the VP of HSE
  • Plan, design, develop, implement, and evaluate health and safety application/compliance in the workplace
  • Design and write safety standards to conform to industry standards and federal, state and local regulations
  • Perform and review job site safety compliance inspections, including hazard analysis, safe work procedures, written reports and recommendations generated by field safety advisors and other Rising Edge employees.
  • Maintain awareness of amendments to the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and regulations, and make recommendations for their implementations
  • Responsible for monitoring adherence to the company safety program by all employees and subcontractors
  • Provide advice and counsel to management and other employee groups on a broad range of occupational safety issues and decisions
  • Manage Rising Edge’s safety team of field inspectors and administrators, with the help of VP of HSE and external safety personnel and/or auditors (when necessary)
  • Conduct incident and near miss investigations to a root cause methodology.  Provide preliminary and final reports in a timely manner as well as to client expectations.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years’ experience in a safety leadership role within the construction industry
  • 5+ years’ experience HSE experience in the renewable energy industry.
  • Professional Safety Certificate/Designation
  • Must have minimum of 2 years’ experience in electrical or utility work fields.
  • Demonstrates detailed knowledge of OSHA regulations and how to practically apply these in various work environments
  • Coursework and training in occupational safety requirements
  • Must be detail-oriented, able to multi-task and excel in a fast-paced environment.
  • Responds quickly and efficiently to emergency situations while calmly organizing manpower and resources while in a crisis.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership skills. Leads by example.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) used during safety presentations and/or incident out in the field or office.
  • Can work as part of a team environment.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license & have an acceptable driving record
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)
  • Willingness to work out of town as required by company needs.
  • Ability to work unsupervised and meet work expectations.
