The Software Development Engineer III is a key contributor in designing and building innovative, scalable, and reliable software solutions for Burger King. This role focuses on developing next-generation software and hardware systems, improving the in-restaurant experiences for guests and operators, and optimizing data infrastructure to support operational excellence. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, experience in full-stack development, experience with hardware development, and a passion for innovation and mentoring.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement high-performance, scalable systems and applications to enhance the guest experience and streamline operations.
  • Write clean, testable, and efficient code using modern programming languages and frameworks.
  • Understand complex physical systems and develop hardware solutions that can interact other in-house software solutions.
  • Create innovative solutions to improve process by connecting new and old systems to provide actionable insights.
  • Develop and maintain robust data pipelines, APIs, and database systems to support analytics and operational needs.
  • Conduct multiple forms of testing, including unit, integration, and end-to-end, ensuring software and hardware reliability.
  • Optimize system performance and troubleshoot technical issues to ensure seamless operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, design, analytics, and product management, to define requirements and deliver solutions aligned with business goals.
  • Partner with vendors and franchisees to implement and support hardware and software solutions across various domains.
  • Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to maintain coding standards and quality.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies to drive innovation and improve developer, guest and restaurant experiences.
  • Lead by example, fostering engineering excellence and best practices within the team.
  • Mentor junior developers, providing technical guidance and fostering professional growth.
  • Drive strategic projects from concept to delivery, ensuring timelines, quality, and budget alignment.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in software development with expertise in full-stack engineering (e.g., Node.js, React, TypeScript, JavaScript).
  • Proficiency in relational and non-relational database systems (e.g., MySQL, Snowflake, DynamoDB).
  • Experience with modern development tools and methodologies, including CI/CD pipelines, serverless technologies, and Infrastructure as Code (e.g., AWS Lambda, Terraform, CircleCI).
  • Experience designing, creating and maintaining hardware solutions.
  • Understanding of IoT systems and how to they interact with local and cloud solutions.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver projects in an agile environment and collaborate with diverse teams.
  • Experience with Appian platform development or other business process automation tools.
  • Knowledge of frontend and backend frameworks such as NestJS, Express, and Redux.
  • Experience with hardware related projects including designing, developing and maintaining hardware at scale
  • Expertise in building and managing APIs and integrating with third-party services.
  • Proven experience in mentoring team members and driving technical initiatives.
  • Results-driven with a strong problem-solving mindset.
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills with a focus on delivering impactful solutions.
