OVERVIEW:   Innovate and sustain integration of generative AI, the technology-assisted integration of data and machine-learning, into PCSB-sponsored courses and campus-wide faculty-student research and student engagement, discovery and preparation for careers, and positions that require application of generative AI technology and related skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Provide continuous improvement of the curriculum in line with technological change for the PCSB's course Data Analytics for Business (DAB). Teach two sections of that course per term. Orient, support, and help recruit other instructors for DAB and oversee consistency of student learning outcomes. (40%)
  2. Develop and support cutting-edge co-curricular skill-building opportunities that integrate with existing programs in place at the PCSB and across campus, such as the Friar Leadership Immersion Program. In coordination with campus-wide goals for emerging technologies and data explore adding certificates or other programs leading to enhanced competencies in the data analytics and machine learning area across all potential student populations (undergraduate, graduate, and non-degree). Serve as the liaison between the School of Business and Information Technology and provide oversight of information technology implementation and support (including software and hardware platforms) for classroom instruction, faculty research, and staff functions. (25%)
  3. Support student engagement, discovery, and preparation for careers and positions that require big data management and machine-learning skills. Engage with employers and industry practitioners to stay current on technology and skills and, in collaboration with career services and corporate/alumni engagement staff, building course-embedded applied learning opportunities, internships and post-graduate placement. (20%)
  4. Develop and support programming, such as faculty and student workshops and seminars, to encourage joint student-faculty research that applies big data and machine learning, in coordination with colleagues from across campus. (15%)

MARGINAL DUTIES:

  1. Perform all other duties as may be required.
  • Master's degree in engineering or computer science from an accredited institution required.
  • Minimum of ten years' experience working in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Intermediate experience with data management technologies including Al software and data visualization.
  • Intermediate experience with programming languages.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to represent the lab within the campus community, collaborate across schools and departments, and promote the lab's impact.
  • Experience with teaching and student supervision.
  • Awareness of ethical issues related to generative Al.
  • Mindset and motivation to stay current with advancements in techniques, tools, and methodologies.
