About this opportunity

We specialise in the manufacture and supply of rigid plastic and metal packaging servicing for the consumer and industrial sectors.

As Planning Manager and part of the site leadership team, you will manage all supply chain activities at the Mulgrave site, including planning, purchasing and logistics, ensuring all customers’ requirements for a reliable supply of products are met in accordance with forecasts and orders. You will also be accountable for production planning, purchasing and working with other members of the site to cooperatively manage the overall plant production plan. You will  oversee daily warehouse operations, including coordinating loading schedules, handling inwards and outwards goods, and ensuring efficient stock control. This role also includes administrative responsibilities to support warehouse operations, such as data entry, reporting, and inventory management using SAP. The Planning Manager will also be responsible for conducting T1 daily meetings and presenting data at T2 daily meetings on all planning and warehouse issues. This role will work closely with the site manager in managing and scheduling warehouse staff.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Provide safety leadership to team and crews with regular participation in hazard ID and WHSE campaigns that actively drive a culture of behavioural safety.
  • Develop and regularly update the overall production schedule for sites that integrates sales forecasts, plant capability, inventory holdings, raw material supply and maintenance requirements into a short-term plan that meets customer’s needs and forms the basis for the plant manufacturing business plan.
  • Work with Site Engineering Manager to allow machine time to plan schedule maintenance.
  • Review the daily delivery schedule report and notify all relevant parties about late deliveries.
  • Monitor production output, inventory, customer orders / forecasts, material supplies and trends in the above to ensure all customers’ requirements are met. (weekly dashboard)
  • Attend Weekly / Monthly Resin Forecast review with Divisional Supply Chain Manager 
  • Creates all new product codes and maintain accurate BOM’s & Routes for the planning system.
  • Maintain Manufacturing Orders from the raising to completion – Job costing process.
  • Enter customer forecast into V200
  • Lead sites inventory stocktake schedule.
  • Create of Purchase Orders based on MRP requirements (daily)
  • Track & following up on POs imminently due & overdue (both imported and local - daily).
  • Oversee the receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods to ensure smooth operations.
  • Coordinate and manage load schedules for inbound and outbound shipments.
  • Ensure all goods are received, handled, and dispatched accurately and efficiently.
  • Manage the forecast compilation process, which includes owning the short-term weekly plan and the long-term forecast (three or more months)

Your skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you’ll have:

  • Depth of experience in a Planning leadership role within a 24/5 manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge in ERP systems SAP preferably
  • High computer skills in MS Office, Excel, Word and Emails
  • Personal drive and results-orientation.
  • Ability to work outside standard hours when required.
  • Visible belief and demonstrated leadership in a Zero Harm culture.
  • Ability to remain resilient, calm and composed when under pressure.
