About this position
The nutrition program specialist uses the Hubbe system to prepare reports and manage other data for the organization’s center-based meal program. This position also assists with the operation of Options for Learning’s Nutrition Program, which includes nutritional training and monitoring of facilities that receive services through California’s Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).
What you’ll be doing
- Maintain knowledge of all Child and Adult Care Food Program reporting requirements;
- Accurately review monthly CACFP meal counts and attendance for region 1 or 2, depending on assigned caseload;
- Accurately complete required reports in a timely manner to include fixed percentage study months;
- Manage all documentation to verify eligibility of free, reduced, and base reimbursement;
- Assist site staff with meal count issues and provide technical assistance and support for future reporting;
- Maintain detailed, accurate, and reliable data records on meals served and trends;
- Work collaboratively with the Education and Enrollment Departments;?
- Conduct monitoring reviews for region 1 or 2, based on assigned caseload;
- Offer onsite training to staff related to food handling and safety, as well as compliance with CACFP regulations;
- Follow up on requests from staff related to CACFP issues pertaining to monitoring and alternative meals;
- Represent the organization at assigned meetings;
- Assist the nutrition program manager and supervisor as needed;
- Actively participate in staff meetings and the annual in-service;
- Abide by all of Options for Learning’s policies and procedures;
- Complete other duties as assigned.
What you bring to the table
- One year of experience in food and nutrition services;
- Ability to work well with people, with a particular sensitivity to the needs of children and families;
- Ability to perform intermediate-level mathematical calculations;
- Ability to adapt to a high-volume, fluctuating workload;
- Strong attention to detail and effective organizational skills;
- Ability to type with minimal errors;
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with sensitivity to the unique needs of families and children, including those with special needs or who are at risk;
- Experience working with diverse populations;
- Ability to correctly and effectively communicate in written and oral English;
- Experience and/or training in state and federally funded children’s programs, with a particular focus on eligibility requirements and enrollment certifications (preferred);
- A California driver’s license, daily use of an automobile, and automobile liability insurance (preferred);
- Command of Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, or Vietnamese (preferred).

Salary
- $25.00 - $33.00 per hour (Candidates should anticipate receiving an offer within the first quartile of the salary range).
