Position Overview
 
Annalect is currently seeking a back-end developer to join our technology team remotely. In this role, you will help grow our API layer to enable access to our data. We maintain and govern large volumes of data, and we want to make it accessible to various stakeholders in a secure and properly monitored way, hence we are evolving our data access by developing data products and granting access to them through APIs. We're looking for people who have a shared passion for data and desire to build cool, maintainable and high-quality applications to use this data. In this role you will participate in shaping our technical architecture, design and build software products for various teams who need to access our data.
 
Key Responsibilities

  • Designing, building, testing and deploying scalable APIs that handle large amounts of data both synchronously and asynchronously.
  • Govern data access by setting APIs to have good authentication/authorization and rate limiting mechanisms. Collaborate with operation teams to establish data consumption monitoring and governance systems for SLAs and access.
  • Meet with stakeholders to collect requirements for data APIs and architect endpoints and routes to accommodate for the various growing use-cases.
  • Create easy-to-understand documentation to access and use the APIs
  • Perform code reviews from other contributors and provide leadership and guidance to junior developers

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 4+ years of solid coding experience working in Python.
  • Experience with RESTful APIs (data caching, JWT auth, API load testing, RAML).
  • Experience with Linux/Unix Systems and fluency in bash.
  • Ability to learn and teach new technologies
  • Good understanding of data structures and algorithms. Experience processing and analyzing large data sets. Familiarity with working with data and databases (SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Amazon Aurora, Redis, Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery)
  • Passion for writing good documentation and creating architecture diagrams
  • Rigorous approach to testing (unit testing, functional testing, integration testing)

This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on relevant experience, other job-related qualifications/skills, and geographic location (to account for comparative cost of living). The Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. For this role, benefits include: health insurance, vision insurance, dental insurance, 401(k), Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account, vacation days, sick days, personal days, paid parental leave, paid medical leave, and STD/LTD insurance benefits.

Compensation Range
$90,000$150,000 USD

This role is hybrid, requiring three (3) days per week in the office. The remaining two (2) days may be worked remotely. Specific in-office days will be discussed during the interview process, with flexibility to align with team needs. Please note that the number or required in-office days may be adjusted over time, potentially increasing the number of required in-office days based on business needs.
