Optimized for domain expressiveness and high-throughput execution, this language empowers teams to codify and deploy compliance logic at enterprise scale.

Our Software Engineers came from Palantir, Google, Meta, AWS, Harvard, Stanford, and MIT. Our Legal Engineers are from Harvard Law, Stanford Law, Yale Law, Sullivan & Cromwell, Simpson Thacher, Davis Polk, Greenberg Traurig, the SEC, and FINRA.
We have raised $85 million over the past 18 months from top VCs and global institutions, including Vanguard, Blackstone, Bain Capital, Coatue, Craft Ventures, New York Life, Citi, TIAA, and Marc Benioff.
This Role
As the Technical Director of Platform Engineering, you will lead our critical platform and cloud infrastructure initiatives, shaping the architecture that supports our rapidly scaling, multi-cloud AI platform. You will collaborate closely with engineering leadership, product teams, and enterprise clients to architect robust systems, establish strategic technical direction, and foster an innovative engineering culture. This is a non-management position.
In this role, you will:
Provide strategic leadership for the Platform Engineering team, including areas like observability, reliability, CI/CD, developer experience, and multi-cloud infrastructure.
Define technical roadmaps that anticipate the complexities of scaling our AI compliance platform across global enterprise deployments.
Drive adoption of modern practices such as Infrastructure as Code, comprehensive observability, fault tolerance, and continuous deployment.
Champion architectural excellence to ensure reliability, scalability, and security across cloud providers (AWS, Azure).
Foster innovation around unique platform challenges including scalable regulatory AI execution, resilient job processing, secure multi-tenancy, and flexible deployment patterns (single tenancy, etc).
Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering managers, product leaders, and stakeholders to align technical initiatives with business objectives.
Mentor and grow senior ICs and technical leads, enhancing the technical capabilities and decision-making autonomy across the platform team.
Skills & Experience:
Core:
Extensive experience (8+ years) leading complex technical projects or engineering teams, particularly in platform or cloud infrastructure domains.
Deep technical expertise in building and scaling highly available, multi-cloud infrastructures.
Strong foundation in Infrastructure as Code, observability tools, and CI/CD practices.
Demonstrated success in strategic technical leadership, fostering engineering excellence, and driving team productivity and innovation.
Preferred:
Background in regulated industries or experience with compliance-focused platforms.
Experience architecting solutions that address complex enterprise requirements (e.g., secure multi-tenancy, regulatory compliance, data governance).
Proficiency in modern technologies such as Kubernetes, Terraform, Datadog/OpenTelemetry, serverless architectures, and distributed systems.
What Success Looks Like:
30 days:
Rapidly onboard into Norm Ai's unique compliance-focused platform architecture.
Assess current technical strategies and identify key areas for architectural and operational improvements.
60 days:
Define and communicate a clear technical vision and strategic roadmap for platform engineering.
Initiate improvements to enhance reliability, developer productivity, and platform resilience.
90 days:
Drive significant enhancements to infrastructure scalability and reliability.
Establish yourself as a trusted technical leader, providing clear mentorship and thought partnership across the engineering organization.
Location:
Based in NYC metro area (WTC 7 downtown)
We embrace a flexible hybrid model, typically in-office 3-4 days per week.
Comp & Benefits
The base salary range for this full-time position is $235,000-$270,000 + generous early employee equity + benefits. The range displayed in this job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salary for this position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including job-related skills (as uncovered during the interview process), experience, and relevant education or training. Please note that the compensation details listed here reflect the base salary only, and do not include equity or benefits.
