Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman’s Defense Systems sector is seeking a Staff Mechanical Engineer on the Command and Launch Infrastructure Integration team. This position is in our Strategic Deterrent Systems Division to execute the Engineering and Manufacturing Development phase of the Sentinel Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. This position will be located on campus in Roy, UT and may require on-site support at product manufacturing and integration sites.
What You'll Get To Do:
The qualified candidate will work within an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment, interfacing with IPT leadership, suppliers, customers, and other technical disciplines to engineer design solutions to challenging problems through the development of Product Definition Packages (PDP).
Roles and Responsibilities:
Create and implement deployable mechanical mechanisms that are verified through test/analysis
Develop CAD models visualizing various design solutions
Implement program processes and engineering board approval processes for developed PDPs
Deliver required PDPs on time to meet program objectives
Integrate Infrastructure Integration PDPs with the various element teams to proactively eliminate disconnects and design clashes
Identify gaps within a design and/or requirements and provide a resolution that is cost effective, innovative, and has minimal impact to others
Ensure the developed PDPs meet the design requirements from the various element/configured item specifications
Support digital transformation initiatives relating to PDP development and release
You'll Bring These Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline with 12 years of related experience OR master’s degree in a STEM discipline with 10 years related experience OR a PhD in a STEM discipline with 8 years of related experience.
Experience with design/fabrication techniques for structural details, assemblies, and/or installations
Experience with 3-D modeling tools
Experience using product lifecycle management (PLM) tools
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD security clearance (Secret, Top Secret; etc.)
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
These Qualifications Would Be Nice to Have:
An active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope
ICBM Experience
Experience in creating a Product Definition Package (PDP) or PDP like products
Experience with the ASME Y14.X suite of engineering drawing standards
Ability to work closely with multiple functional organizations (Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Field Operations, etc.
