Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.
Job Description
Job Summary
We’re looking for a proactive and knowledgeable Risk Manager to preserve the company’s assets by identifying potential risks and making sure they’re properly insured, transferred, or managed internally. You’ll be the go-to expert on risk management, offering guidance across the business and working closely with teams around the world. This role also involves building strong relationships with brokers, legal teams, and other partners, while shaping and maintaining our risk management policies and procedures.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Stay up to date and sharp on a wide range of insurance coverages—Property, Casualty, Errors &Omissions, Directors &Officers, and international policies.
- Work with brokers to gather the right info and renew insurance coverage across all areas.
- Be the point person for all things insurance—answering questions, offering advice, and jumping in when urgent issues arise (even if it’s outside regular hours).
- Partner with teams across the business to understand their needs, identify risks, and make sure we’ve got the right coverage in place.
- Manage how insurance costs are allocated across the company.
- Review and negotiate contracts (both U.S. and international) to make sure insurance requirements are fair and achievable.
- Handle insurance claims from start to finish—analyzing coverage, investigating issues, and pushing for timely, favorable outcomes.
- Create and maintain clear, consistent risk management processes and documentation.
- Oversee the department’s budget, including premiums and operational costs.
- Develop and lead junior team members as needed.

- Confidence to make independent decisions and manage projects with minimal oversight.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and a collaborative spirit.
- Professional presence, especially when working with senior leadership.
- Flexibility to work evenings or weekends when needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s or professional certifications (CPCU, ARM, CRM, etc.) are a plus.
- 10+ years of experience in risk management or the insurance industry.
Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the New York, NY office a minimum of three days per week. Subject to change based on Manager discussion or business need.
This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
