This is a hybrid role based out in San Francisco Bay Area. Mixpanel is seeking a highly motivated Strategic Finance Associate to contribute meaningfully to Mixpanel’s Financial Planning and Analysis team and processes. This position is a key contributor to the FP&A team and will own significant parts of our reporting processes. A successful candidate will have the desire and aptitude to grow beyond reporting into additional financial modeling and analysis responsibilities, supporting strategic decision making, and contributing to the financial success of the company.

About the Role
About the Team
The FP&A team enables Mixpanel’s ongoing financial success. Doing so means creating visibility into our financial outcomes by running and improving tight financial reporting processes with all members of executive leadership. It means using these processes coupled with analytical prowess and strong communication skills to deliver keen insights upon which strategic decisions will be made. It means identifying key trends to support these decisions with constantly improving financial models. Through this, the FP&A team guides the company through financial hurdles, fuels growth opportunities, and ultimately drives long-term success.
Responsibilities
- Manage and improve ongoing financial reporting processes to ensure timely execution, efficient operations, and accurate reporting.
- Partner with Sales and RevOps teams to ensure ARR data quality by implementing data validation processes and resolving any discrepancies.
- Analyze and explain budget vs actual variances in detail, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions to improve financial performance.
- Build and maintain comprehensive financial models that accurately reflect the company's operations and support strategic decision-making.
- Identify areas of improvement in reporting processes, and collaborate with stakeholders across FP&A, Accounting and Functional Partners to implement solutions.
- Partner with Budget owners to provide actionable financial insights that support effective budget management and resource allocation.
- Communicate financial insights to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner, using data visualization and storytelling techniques.
We're Looking For Someone Who Has
- New graduate with relevant internship experience or up to 3 years of related FP&A or Finance experience (High growth SaaS experience is a plus). Ultimate leveling will depend on experience and competencies assessment
- Demonstrated ability to quickly grasp and leverage complex concepts
- BS/BA in Economics, Finance, or Accounting preferred
- Strong Excel skills required
- SQL experience preferred
- System savvy, experience working with forecasting and reporting systems.
- Comfortable aggregating and manipulating large data sets from multiple systems to derive insightful analysis and create financial models
- Excellent problem solving, analytical, and systems skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Compensation
The amount listed below is the total target cash compensation (TTCC) and includes base compensation and variable compensation in the form of either a company bonus or commissions. Variable compensation type is determined by your role and level. In addition to the cash compensation provided, this position is also eligible for equity consideration and other benefits including medical, vision, and dental insurance coverage. Our salary ranges are determined by role and level and are benchmarked to the SF Bay Area Technology data cut released by Radford, a global compensation database. The range displayed represents the minimum and maximum TTCC for new hire salaries for the position across all of our US locations. To stay on top of market conditions, we refresh our salary ranges twice a year so these ranges may change in the future. Within the range, individual pay is determined by experience, job-related skills, qualifications, and other factors.
