The Medical Group Management Association (MGMA is looking for a Sr. Manager, Data Strategy and Analytics to join our Denver/hybrid team.
The Sr.Manager, Data Strategy and Analytics is responsible for establishing and executing a comprehensive vision and strategy for enterprise data management, including governance, quality, and optimization of data assets to maximize business value. This role will drive functional accountability for data across the organization while advancing key data management initiatives that align with business objectives. The Sr. Manager leads a team responsible for executing data reporting initiatives utilizing all MGMA’s internal and external data sources, providing real-time reporting and insights for business users, and driving internal business intelligence (BI) for budget, forecast, and operations optimization.
Requirements
Essential Functions
- Create a formal Data Governance function and partner with business and technology leaders to implement and hire according to future state operating model.
- Coordinate operations of data governance working teams, including development of agendas and required materials, while serving as liaison for individuals in other data governance roles.
- Develop the organization’s data strategy roadmap in partnership with MGMA Data Architecture & Engineering Lead, aligning it with business objectives while providing direction toward targeted data management and governance maturity.
- Lead the evaluation and prioritization of data initiatives based on business impact, resource requirements, and alignment with strategic goals.
- Conduct ongoing monitoring using agreed upon data governance and quality metrics.
- Develop verbal and written data governance communications in formal and informal settings to senior audiences.
- Promote data literacy and data-driven decision making throughout the organization, establishing data as a strategic asset.
- Design training and certification paths for data governance program stakeholders throughout MGMA as needed.
- Partner with data owners and stewards to define policies for all facets of data governance (security, architecture, integrations, operations, compliance, quality, metadata management, lineage and analytics / reporting) across each data domain.
- Partner with executive team members and business line leaders to define critical business metrics and KPIs that report on organizational health.
- Manage internal business intelligence reporting across the organization utilizing customer, sales, accounting, and various other data sources.
- Collaborate closely with product owners, marketing, sales, and executive team members to identify organization-wide reporting needs and requirements, monitor metrics and results, and support ad hoc analysis to drive decision making.
- Lead the development of all PowerBI and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) reporting within CRM to provide real-time data for the business.
- Act as liaison for data owners and reporting teams across the organization to unify reporting efforts on an enterprise level.
- Work closely with database administrators and developers to define internal data reporting mechanics and strategy.
- Develop technical documentation to support data governance and reporting initiatives and provide training across the organization as necessary.
- Implement new data analysis methodologies / reporting tools and maintain best practices.
- Other duties as required and necessary to ensure the success of the organization.
Supervisory duties
Direct supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, including goal setting, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
Knowledge, skills and abilities
- Ability to consistently promote, support, work, and act in a manner in support of MGMA’s mission, vision, and values.
- Strong knowledge of ethical data use, privacy laws (GDPR, CPA), and industry regulations to ensure responsible data management.
- Multi-domain experience inclusive of customer and product while also maintaining regulatory requirements.
- Experience leading and facilitating business glossary, semantics, and taxonomy design in one or more industries.
- Proven ability to design and mature data governance programs, including policy frameworks, stewardship models, and data quality management.
- Experience implementing and maintaining data management tools, including data catalogs and master data management solutions.
- Expertise driving data literacy and change management, enabling stakeholders to understand, trust, and effectively use data for strategic decision-making.
- Familiarity with modern data ecosystems, including cloud-based data governance, data storage optimization, and distributed data management architectures.
- Strong project management skills with experience leading cross-functional teams and collaborating with various stakeholders to align data governance with business goals.
- Working knowledge of Dynamics 365 preferred.
- Strong Excel and SQL experience and skillset.
- Experience with using standard and agile life-cycle methodologies.
- Ability to think analytically and evaluate user needs to create the highest quality solutions and resources.
- Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft stack applications (PowerBI, PowerApps, Microsoft Flow) a plus.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in IT, computer science, or relevant discipline or equivalent skills developed through related work experience.
Experience
- Five (5) or more years of experience developing and / or using business intelligence reports required, preferably SSRS and PowerBI.
- Three (3) or more years of experience in Dynamics 365 / CRM and / or analytical role required.
- Three (3) or more years of experience establishing and implementing data governance initiatives and best practices required.
- Two (2) or more years of experience leading projects and initiatives required.
- One (1) or more years of experience leading a team required.
A combination of experience and education will be considered in lieu of education and experience requirements.
Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
