The Medical Group Management Association (MGMA is looking for a Desktop & IT Support Engineer to join our Denver/hybrid team.
The Desktop & IT Support Engineer is a hybrid role responsible for both end-user support and technical engineering of the desktop environment. This individual will provide direct IT support to employees, troubleshoot hardware and software issues, and maintain system performance across devices. In parallel, they will develop and manage desktop images, automate deployment processes, support endpoint security, and standardize device configurations across the organization. The role is hands-on, customer-focused, and plays a key part in ensuring the stability, usability, and security of all end-user technology.
Requirements
Essential Functions
- Provide Tier 1–3 support for desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and peripheral equipment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Windows, macOS, Microsoft 365, VPN, printers, and collaboration tools.
- Build, maintain, and deploy system images for desktops/laptops using tools like Intune, Autopilot, or SCCM.
- Manage endpoint configurations and policies using Microsoft Intune or other MDM tools.
- Automate desktop administration tasks using PowerShell or equivalent scripting tools.
- Set up and manage end-user accounts, mailboxes, licenses, and group memberships in systems such as Microsoft 365 (including Teams, OneDrive, Outlook, SharePoint, OneNote), Azure Active Directory, and JIRA.
- Support onboarding and offboarding processes, including account provisioning, device setup, access permissions, and user orientation.
- Perform patch management, software packaging, and application deployment.
- Maintain and manage IT asset inventory and support hardware lifecycle management.
- Collaborate with security and infrastructure teams to enforce endpoint protection, encryption, and compliance policies.
- Document procedures, maintain knowledge base articles, and contribute to continuous process improvement.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Ability to consistently promote, support, work, and act in a manner in support of MGMA’s mission, vision, and values.
- Deep understanding of Windows 10/11 systems and administration.
- Working knowledge of macOS, iOS, and Android support.
- Experience with Microsoft 365 administration and troubleshooting (Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint).
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Intune, SCCM, or similar endpoint management tools.
- Familiarity with Active Directory, Azure AD, Group Policy, and device compliance policies.
- Strong scripting skills with PowerShell (or equivalent) for automation and troubleshooting.
- Experience creating or supporting automation workflows using tools such as Microsoft Power Automate.
- Understanding of IT asset management practices and tools.
- Excellent diagnostic, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to balance hands-on support with backend configuration work.
- Strong customer service orientation and ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical users.
Education
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
Experience
- Three (3) or more years of experience in IT support and desktop engineering roles required.
- Familiarity with ITIL practices and service desk systems (e.g., JIRA, ServiceNow) required.
- Experience with scripting or automation (PowerShell, Bash) and designing workflows in Microsoft PowerAutomate required.
Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications
- Microsoft Certified Modern Desktop Administrator Associate or higher level certification preferred.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.

This is a largely sedentary role, so employee must be able to remain in a sedentary position while focusing for extended periods of time throughout the workday. Position also requires occasional movement inside the office to access file cabinets, printers, etc. While performing the duties of this job, employee is regularly required to successfully navigate scenarios requiring the following operational abilities:
- Ability to operate PC/keyboard and other office productivity equipment
- Ability to position self to traverse/navigate around typical office setting
- Ability pull/push, lift, open/close, grasp/manipulate, transport up to 10 lbs.
