Vice President, Financial Planning & AnalysisOverviewThe Vice President, Financial Planning and Analysis - Technology at Mastercard will drive financial strategy, support business growth, and ensure robust financial management within our technology sector. Collaborating with our technology group, incumbent will optimize financial operations, enhance decision-making, and boost overall performance.
We seek a strategic thinker with deep financial expertise, a proven track record in technology finance, and exceptional leadership skills. The ideal candidate will implement data-driven solutions, streamline processes, and offer financial insights to help business partners plan, prioritize investments, and manage performance. Acting as both a player and coach, incumbent will provide financial thought partnership and analytical support.
Collaboration and stakeholder management are key to success in this role. This role will lead technology groups in understanding the financial impacts of business decisions and serve as a strategic advisor, ensuring alignment with overall business strategy.
Role
• Financial Planning, Management, and Oversight: Lead TECH financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and target-setting processes. Monitor performance, analyze variances, and implement corrective actions. Evaluate and prioritize technology investments, providing oversight for capital expenditures to ensure alignment with strategic priorities.
• Financial Leadership and Analysis: Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with technology division objectives. Deliver insightful analysis to support decision-making, drive business performance, and identify opportunities for efficiency and investment optimization.
• Business Partnering and Advisory: Collaborate with senior Technology and Finance leaders—including Corporate FP&A—as a trusted advisor on financial matters. Work cross-functionally with finance business partners to ensure alignment on TECH-wide issues. Partner with senior management and Procurement to implement enhance sourcing efficiencies
• Executive communication: Communicate key drivers behind budgets and forecasts, linking financial performance to business strategy. Develop and present quarterly operating reviews and CEO-level presentations. Identify cost management levers and communicate opportunities to the TECH CFO and executive leadership.
• Team Leadership and Development: Cultivate a high-performing, collaborative culture by demonstrating strong emotional intelligence, strategic influence, and a commitment to team alignment—across both direct and indirect teams. Provide leadership that drives clarity, accountability, and engagement while enabling execution of key priorities and operational improvements. Proactively gather feedback to strengthen team dynamics and organizational cohesion. Oversee goal setting, performance management, and talent development to build bench strength and advance enterprise objectives.
• Change management: Spearhead transformation initiatives across budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes using automation and modern technologies. Champion change management behaviors to drive successful adoption of new systems and processes. Leverage benchmarking and best practices to elevate performance.
• Data Insights, Metrics, and Performance Tracking: Define, communicate, and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure ongoing competitiveness and profitability. Provide guidance on delivering data driven insights and key business metrics.
• Risk Management and Compliance: Identify financial risks and opportunities, implementing strategies to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with policies, standards, and regulations. Ensure strong financial controls and strengthen oversight.
• Capital Investment Evaluation and Benchmarking: Evaluate business cases and major investments to ensure alignment with financial and strategic goals. Champion internal and external benchmarking for margin expansion.
• Strategic Advocacy: Serve as the voice of the Technology team in enterprise-level conversations—crafting compelling financial narratives that link technology investments to long-term business value. Proactively influence cross-functional stakeholders and senior executives to support strategic funding, defend appropriate efficiency targets, and champion initiatives that challenge the status quo and drive enterprise transformation.
All About You
• Master’s Degree preferred in Finance, Economics, Business or related field
• Advanced level of finance experience within Technology Finance strongly preferred
• Effective communication and influencing skills; ability to build credibility and rapport with senior management
• Track record building internal and external business partnerships
• Energetic and motivated team player with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and teams, driving projects and key initiatives to successful completion.
• Proven track record as a change agent, successfully leading and implementing transformative initiatives that drive organizational growth and innovation
• Progressive leadership experience, proven track record of developing high performance teams, encouraging problem solving and fostering inclusive environment for diverse perspectives in a multifunctional, global organization; includes motivating, developing and inspiring Finance professionals
• Strong organizational skills and sense of prioritization
• Strong analytical skills with an eye on details, coupled with the ability to have a helicopter view and big picture strategic perspective
• Proficient in managing multiple concurrent initiatives simultaneously
• Good working knowledge of general accounting and internal controls
• Proven presentation skills, including strong oral and written capabilities
