Job Type: Exempt - Full-time

Schedule: Monday to Friday 9am-6pm EST

Reports to: Chief Technology Officer

Eligibility Requirement: Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship  

This role is remote (Occasional quarterly travel may be necessary)


Summary

We are seeking a hands-on, player-coach VP Engineering leader to lead Lumata’s engineering function into its next phase of engineering, intelligence, and delivery excellence. You will set technical best practices, work closely with engineers, product team, and be deeply involved in system design, development, engineering operations, and GenAI adoption.

This role will help define Lumata’s technology identity, instill engineering rigor, and foster a culture of excellence that combines pragmatic execution with long-term architectural thinking. You will lead platform development, AI enablement, and technical delivery across products and services.


Essential Functions

Engineering Leadership & Delivery

  • Lead the engineering function across full-stack, UI, backend, platform, QA/SDET, and DevOps teams.
  • Act as a player-coach—partnering with product, cross functional teams and ICs while modeling strong technical judgment
  • Promote engineering rigor through planning, Secure-SDLC, design reviews, code reviews, test automation, documentation practices, and CI/CD excellence.

Generative AI Adoption & Integration

  • Lead Lumata’s GenAI engineering effort—building internal tools and customer-facing GenAI products.
  • Use GenAI to accelerate internal development, deployment, and compliance workflows.
  • Design and implement AI-augmented delivery workflows, blending human engineers with AI agents.
  • Collaborate with Product and Data to drive GenAI experimentation and impact measurement.

Platform & Technology Development + Production SRE

  • Implement platform strategy across Salesforce Health Cloud, AWS (Connect, Glue, Lambdas, Data Lake), and EHR integrations with our customers.
  • Own security first, public strength APIs, platform modularity, extensibility, and scale to support diverse GTMs and needs.
  • Champion DevSecOps, infrastructure-as-code, observability, secure, compliant deployment practices and ability to troubleshoot and resolve urgent production issues. 

Team Building & People Leadership

  • Lead a lean blended team of employees and contractors with clear ownership, accountability, and collaboration norms.
  • Design an engineering org that stays lean and high-impact by leveraging automation and GenAI agents where possible.
  • Establish clear roles, impact areas, and growth paths to attract and retain top engineering talent.

Engineering, IT Operations & Metrics

  • Track and continuously improve engineering health using DORA, Engineering, Quality and GenAI adoption metrics.
  • Build delivery systems and team structures that improve speed, reliability, and confidence across releases.
  • Operate at the intersection of technology leadership, operational excellence, and AI-driven transformation. 


Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 15+ years of engineering experience with at least 5 years in a technical leadership role.
  • Proven experience in developing high performance engineering teams and platforms in a high-growth, scale up environment.
  • Demonstrated success in building and integrating GenAI technologies and infrastructure.
  • Experience working in healthtech, HIPAA-compliant environments, SOC-2 Type 2 or platform businesses is a strong plus.
  • Designed and developed solutions for internal efficiencies or external solutions 


Required Skills

  • Strong full-stack system design, end-to-end development skills, Secure-SDLC.
  • Hands-on coding experience in one or more major language (e.g., JS, Java, python, etc)
  • Experienced building Cloud SaaS solutions with Salesforce (Apex, LWC), AWS services, Mobile apps and DevOps/SRE practices.
  • Deep understanding of CI/CD, DevOps, Security, cloud-native architecture, and continuous deployment.
  • Proven ability to build lean, high-performing teams—blended across contractors, employees, and timezones.
  • Comfortable driving tech roadmaps, leading delivery, reviews and digging into details when needed.
  • Metrics and data driven decision making and planning skills (DORA, etc). 
  • Strong communicator and collaborator, able to influence across Product, Data, Clinical Ops, and Executive teams.
  • Mindset and hands on experience for innovation and an eye for practical, scalable GenAI application design and development. 
  • Leveraging GenAI for scaling internal efficiency and external solutions (Preferred)


Physical requirements

  • Must have a home office that is secure and free of distractions (HIPAA-compliant workspace)
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to hear, speak, call and virtually meet
  • Must be able to communicate both verbally and in writing


Work Environment


In order to perform the essential functions of this job, you must have a dedicated remote workspace, and a wireless connection with a minimum of 50 Mbps of download speed and 10 Mbps of upload speed of dedicated internet bandwidth for each person working from home; the workspace is private and has low to no noise level as you will be on phone calls with patients. It is very important that your workspace is HIPAA compliant; your company issued laptop/pc must maintain visibility that only you can access as you'll be handling patient data. You are also expected to have your camera on during virtual meetings, therefore, you must be in a designated workspace/room for privacy.
