Job Description

The Quality Assurance (QA) Technician I focuses on the performance of analytical testing activities within the consumable product lines. They are responsible for testing incoming goods and intermediate products and reviewing the results of QA testing in comparison to established specification and/or LGC requirements.

Areas of Responsibility:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. 

Essential Functions: 

  • Completing analytical QA activities for products in accordance with established procedures.
  • Ensuring products tested adhere to established specifications and LGC requirements for product acceptance.
  • Verifying Records in Master Control electronic batch records and approving release of product.
  • Recommending product disposition and updating records associated with products and incoming goods for review by QA management.
  • Supporting investigations to determine nonconforming product root causes and corrective actions.
  • Operating and maintaining standard equipment (e.g. Metrology systems, DNA synthesizers, HPLCs, spectrophotometers, and Mass Spectrometers) within the site used to support QA activities.
  • Performing general equipment or instrument maintenance and upkeep activities (e.g. verification tests, loading support materials onto instruments, cleaning of the inspection area, etc.).
  • Labelling and processing products and incoming goods with an appropriate status label after product disposition (e.g. Approved, Rejected, etc).
  • Assisting in verifying and documenting QA activities and procedures. Propose new ideas to improve overall QA efficiency.
  • Perform any required routine checks to keep QA equipment performing at a high level.
  • Adhere to site safety policies and work with the Safety Coordinator to implement new safety procedures as required
  • As part of the Quality team, support QC activities as required
  • Other duties, as assigned. Responds with flexibility and collaboration to the needs of the business.

Qualifications

Essential Knowledge & Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent in a relevant scientific discipline 
  • 0-2 years of related post-degree experience
  • Knowledge of laboratory automation
  • Use of Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, and Excel

Preferred Knowledge & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant scientific discipline
  • Working knowledge (1-3 years) of and/or experience with PCR, Real-Time PCR, oligosynthesis, data analysis, and experimental design
  • Working knowledge (1-3 years) of or experience in a QA or QC role.
  • Statistical data analysis via Minitab is a plus

Additional Information

The typical pay range for this role is:

Minimum: $19.45 USD per hour

Maximum: $32.40 USD per hour

This range represents the low and high end of the anticipated salary range for the Minnesota based position. The actual base salary will depend on several factors such as: experience, skills, and location. 

This position is eligible for a discretionary bonus program. Participation in the bonus program is not guaranteed, and bonuses are awarded at the discretion of the company based on individual and company performance results.
