Role Overview
We’re seeking a collaborative Senior Process Engineer – Quality to drive continuous improvement and uphold rigorous quality standards at our Charleston facility. You will lead initiatives that boost product performance, optimize yields, and reinforce our Quality Management System. This role requires a proactive problem-solver with a track record of successful cross-functional leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Quality Management System:
- Oversee and enhance the plant’s QMS to ensure internal and external requirements are consistently achieved.
- Monitor compliance, update procedures, and guide teams on best practices.
- Continuous Improvement Projects:
- Initiate and lead projects targeting yield increase, cost reduction, and cycle-time optimization.
- Apply tools such as CAPA, 5 Whys, ECRs, JDIs, RIEs, DMAIC, SPC, DOE, and FMEA.
- Analyze process gaps and implement corrective actions using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
- KPI Oversight:
- Define clear metrics for first-pass quality and productivity.
- Provide visibility on performance trends and ensure teams have resources to meet targets.
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Work closely with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to foster trust and drive joint improvement efforts.
- Participate in strategic planning, goal deployment, and business analysis within the site Business Team.
- Leadership & Training:
- Mentor Quality Lab Technicians, guiding them on safety, efficiency, and quality practices.
- Develop and deliver presentations or training materials for diverse audiences.
- Act as a coach for teams interfacing with customers or suppliers.
- Documentation & Standardization:
- Create or update Control Plans, FMEAs, JSAs, and Standard Work instructions.
- Ensure accurate record-keeping of project outcomes, process changes, and training.
- Safety & Culture:
- Champion a zero-incident safety mindset and corporate target behaviors.
- Drive initiatives that enhance teammate engagement, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Metallurgical, Materials Engineering, or related engineering field.
- Experience:
- Minimum 3 years in manufacturing-focused problem-solving or customer-facing roles.
- Demonstrated history of leading cross-functional improvement projects in safety, quality, and productivity.
- Skills & Certifications:
- Strong written and verbal communication; able to prepare and deliver clear presentations and training.
- Proficiency with Lean and/or Six Sigma tools; formal certification is a plus but not mandatory.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills, capable of juggling multiple initiatives.
- Experience developing or revising process documentation (Control Plans, FMEAs, JSAs, Standard Work).
