Qualifications
Primary Function of Position
The primary role for this position is to partner with Manufacturing to develop and sustain a well-trained and flexible workforce through hands-on training, mentoring, and formal certification. Work closely with Production and Training Supervisor to identify and prioritize quarterly training goals based on production needs and training scorecard. Routinely meet with Production and Training Supervisors to review and propose improvements to training plan to achieve quarterly goals. Trainers of all levels are expected to assist in maintaining the accuracy of manufacturing and training documentations to ensure the effectiveness of the training program.
Essential Job Duties
- Deliver OJT training courses in the areas of manufacturing skills and processes, quality system/GMP practices and requirements, information technology tools, and other subjects as required
- Assess employee skills and provide feedback to management
- Provide technical support to Manufacturing personnel and the production line as needed
- Conduct training of manufacturing personnel and perform certifications per certification criteria and requirements.
- Identify and prevent gaps in training and production coverage
- Track and maintain training data for accuracy
- Solicit Training Evaluation from Manufacturing personnel to identify areas for improvement in training process
- Properly complete manufacturing training documentation, initiate reports, escalate quality issues, report efficiency, and record measurements as needed.
- Perform weekly and monthly audits of production lines based on Manufacturing Standards and Guidelines.
- Update/red-line MPIs using PowerPoint/Excel/Word as required
- Submit changes through MDCR process and assist in Change Order creation as needed
- Cross-trains existing or mentors newly hired Trainers to best practices, training guidelines, policies and job functions. Identifies and coordinates with Training Specialist or management to increase training proficiency (1:1 or group).
- Identifies quality issues in the production areas and supports management with RCAs
- Participate and lead improvement projects both for the training and production teams
- Perform other duties as assigned (for example, job fairs, candidate screening, and onboarding, working as capacity on the manufacturing line, tours)
Additional Information
Required Skills and Experience
- Preferably twelve (12) months of manufacturing training or manufacturing Lead experience
- Perform at a high level for a minimum of twelve (12) months with consistency, proficiency and in good standing (e.g. QPN quality issues, Attendance, Sick time, etc.) In addition you must demonstrate leadership, independence, and meet high standards on the CCEE
- Proficient with relevant manufacturing related software
- Intermediate level of competency with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Make decisions in an efficient manner and escalate problems accordingly (e.g. gets consensus, works through challenges with management)
- Coordination of tasks and prioritization with minimal oversight. Can create a plan for a task implementation with some direction
- Ability to present training course material to individuals and a group and to effectively facilitate their learning process
- A firm understanding of Demand Flow Technology/Lean Manufacturing concepts and disciplines
- A firm understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Intuitive Surgical quality system requirements
- Must demonstrate ability to interact with all roles in manufacturing
- Solid understanding of all manufacturing guidelines, policies, procedures, DOPs, etc. Has an understanding of MPI/WI templates, Design Controls, Change Controls, Product and Engineering Processes
- Support of New Product Introduction projects and other related duties as needed
- Provide both support in the training department and with manufacturing production.
- Leading by example and must be a strong team player
Required Education and Training
- Minimum education High School Diploma or equivelant.
- Preferred 1+ year of manufacturing experience at Intuitive
Working Conditions
- The ability to work with microscopes
- The ability to work in a Controlled Environment Room (CER)
- The ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
