Industrial Engineer
Job Description
The Company
Halo Industries has invented a revolutionary technology to replace a decades-old semiconductor material slicing process. Our laser-based technology eliminates waste, improves material cost and performance, and drives advancements in high-growth markets like automotive, telecommunications, and power electronics. Founded in 2014 at Stanford University, Halo secured significant funding in 2024 and is poised for rapid growth, engaging strategic customers and preparing for volume manufacturing.
About the Role
We are looking for a proactive and technically skilled Industrial Engineer to join our advanced manufacturing team, specializing in Silicon Carbide (SiC) processing. This role focuses on leveraging data analytics, simulation modeling, and MES systems to improve manufacturing throughput, capacity, and cycle time. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in industrial engineering, experience with discrete event simulation tools, proficiency in manufacturing data systems, and hands-on experience with manufacturing process development and operations execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, validate, and maintain Discrete Event Simulation (DES) models using tools such as SimPy, Simio, or FlexSim to optimize manufacturing processes.
- Analyze and improve manufacturing workflows by identifying bottlenecks and optimizing process cycle times and throughput.
- Develop and manage dynamic dashboards and data systems (PowerBI, Tableau) to monitor KPIs such as production costs, OEE, throughput, and WIP.
- Extract and manipulate manufacturing data using SQL, Python, or other tools to enable data-driven decision making.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with equipment teams, process engineers, and operations staff to support MES/CM systems and enhance a frontline problem-solving culture.
- Support capacity planning and process scale-up initiatives using simulation and analytics to forecast demand and manufacturing capability.
Basic Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
- 2+ years of relevant industry experience, preferably in semiconductor or advanced materials manufacturing.
- Proficiency with discrete event simulation tools such as SimPy, Simio, or FlexSim.
- Proficiency data analytics and visualization tools including SQL, Python, PowerBI, Tableau, and Excel.
- Experience working with commercial MES or CMMS systems, and knowledge of manufacturing data flows. (Experience with ERP systems a plus)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma methodologies (DMAIC/DMADV), and continuous improvement processes.
- Experience with Silicon Carbide (SiC) processing or comparable semiconductor fab/foundry operations.
- Familiarity with warehouse management, logistics workflows, and capacity planning principles.
- Prior exposure to high-volume manufacturing (HVM), cleanroom operations, or fab automation.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills with the ability to work effectively across teams.
- Demonstrated time management and project coordination abilities (PMP or equivalent project management knowledge a plus).
- Health Care Plan (Medical, Dental & Vision)
- Retirement Plan (401k, IRA)
- Paid Time Off (Vacation, Sick & Public Holidays)
- Life Insurance (Basic, Voluntary & AD&D)
- Family Leave (Maternity, Paternity)
- Free Food & Snacks
- Stock Option Plan
- Short Term & Long Term Disability
- Base Salary: $75,000-$100,000
