Summary: The Retail Market Leader is responsible for being the face of GBC for the retail bank in a current or new market. As an RML you will provide exceptional customer service through your own activities as well as those of the branch staff. In addition, you will focus on achieving growth goals and building brand awareness in your market.
- 70% to 80% of your time will be spent participating in proactive business development activities in and out of the branch.
- 20%-30% of your time will be spent coaching, leading and supporting the assistant branch manager with the day-to-day operation of the branch.
A successful RML will also be able to
- Build and nurture cross functional partnerships to deliver the GBC Service Standards and help GBC achieve its growth targets.
- Identify, recruit, and retain top talent.
- Develop and maintain relationships in the market community.
- Grow brand awareness through community involvement, networking, and business development activities.
Specific Job Functions:
Relationships
- Implement creative service and sales strategies with energy such that customer service standards are met or exceeded and financial results are achieved
- Focus on expanding and growing a book of business, generating loan and deposit growth, while increasing market share.
- Plans, develop and pursue an active customer calling program in order to attract new banking relationships.
- Develops new client relationships, administer, and cross sell related banking products and services.
- Makes habitual calls on prospective clients in order to generate high quality new loans, deposits, and fee business to achieve or exceed specific production goals.
- Interact with customers through personal calling efforts, branch referrals and other contacts to discuss business needs and recommend ways in which the bank can serve their needs.
- Represent GBC and our brand by participating in community, civic, and business development opportunities for the purpose of growing brand awareness and building a pipeline.
- Partner with support team and business lines to ensure our customers’ experience is best in class.
- Represent GBC throughout various community relations within the market of the branch through community involvement and business development.
- Collaborate with internal business partners such as commercial banking, private banking, and treasury sales to meet all our customer’s needs.
Coaching
- Manage and coach the branch team to effectively meet sales goals, while providing best-in-class customer service.
- Coach through observations and feedback to ensure a consultive needs based approach is provided by the assistant branch manager and universal bankers.
- Lead from the front to ensure all team members live the GBC Core Behaviors every day.
- Ensures that each team member has a personal development plan to supports them with it.
- Provides operations oversight; ensures compliance with policies and procedures and regulations.
- Supports the assistant branch manager in the day-to-day operations of branch, including opening/closing procedures, security of branch location, and training.
- Perform and/or assists with branch banking functions, as needed.
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- 5 or more years of successful business development experience calling on businesses in the community.
- 5 or more years of sales management experience developing a team to achieve desired performance outcomes.
- A strong client network in the market, with relationships that can be leveraged to build the GBC brand and bring in business.
- Bachelors’ degree, minimum of 5 years’ related experience in a similar role at a Bank/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
